But it's pretty much the same in all the Scandinavian countries I guess.
Ugh.
I'm totally embarrassed now.
I actually meant Scandinavian, not Norwegian. Sad

What is it with you Norwegians and your happy godless humanistic countries?
You need to give us here in the US some of that. Sad
Agreed! (except for the part about getting Modler's nationality wrong) We definitely need more secularism here in the US.
That's MISTER Godless Vegetarian Tree Hugging Hippie Liberal to you.

I would love to give some it to you Americans - I just don't know how :/

But I don't think that the widespread atheism in the Scandinavian countries has that much to do with secularism per se; I rather think it's a consequence of how our societies are constructed.
The high standards of welfare and social support means that most people actually are able to forget about God, stop worrying and enjoy their lives. They generally feel safe and unworried, and that means that they are able to cope with whatever difficulties they may encounter in their lives, without the need of having religion as a comfort (or psychological crutch).

And I honestly can't think of a worse place for religion to thrive, than in a society filled with happy, unworried and well-educated people.
(I know it may sound like I am glorifying my own country, but it is not my intent to do so. We are quite far from being perfect. Smile )
