One of my best friends are quite Christian, she even considered becoming a priest at one point. Our personalities are really similar, so we get along great. We discuss religion and the concept of God on occasion, she's aware of me not believing in it, but she's completely comfortable knowing that I only discuss it hypothetically. I have a lot of spiritual friends too, a couple of Muslims and some pagans, but religion has never been an issue in my group. We have a lot of respect for each other, and we know that we all are so much more than our religions, faiths or lack thereof. If someone would be a religious fundie however, I'm not sure that I could tolerate that. When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

That depends on them and how religious they are. I get along fine with religious people as long as they don't bring up god or politics. After that, well.... For instance, my husband and I used to hang out with this couple that we have known since high school. Well, over the past few years they have been getting more and more religious and conservative. And they like to talk about it all the damn time. We haven't seen them in over a year because we just can't be comfortable around them anymore.
My best friend is a baptist.
She and I never talk about it. |
