The way I see it what we now call myths were once believed to be true and were the religious practices of the past. In my view Christianity is no exception it comes from the same tradition and actually plagiarizes alot of ancient myths that predated it.

And they could use my book as a text.

I'm gonna have my kid read the bible.... Thats how I became an Atheist in the first place.. Show her how women had NO rights, slavery was ok, Children were terrorized and killed for teasing, how god toys with people and kills them for others doing wrong, and Gods perpencity for violence.. Well unless your in an IRON CHARIOT then not even god could defeat you .....

P.S. dear appologist and those who say thats not what the bible meant... plz highlight in YELLOW the things in the bible that are literal, then in GREEN highlight the NONliteral passages, then in BLUE highlight the passages that point out that the green highlighted passages were infact not literal.

Another thing you can do is ask apologists how they came to be able to tell which biblical texts are literal and which were allegorical or meant only as parables. For me reading the bible in its entirety also gave me that last push towards atheism after having been a fundamentalist evangelist.
