Would you rather live forever or die?
#31
RE: Would you rather live forever or die?
I wouldn't want to live forever, just indefinitely, and if it were to end, only when and how I want it to happen.

I'm not particularly concerned about outliving people I know and love, and it's pretty much not possible that I would grow bored.

I don't mean you look forward to having a short life but would you rather die some day than live forever? Of course, if life were roses and euphoric all the time, no one in their right mind would ever want to die. But is life really all that great?
Life has been enjoyable enough that I don't want to die yet, but I have no idea what eternity is like (aside from the occasional line at the DMV) so I can't say that I'd rather die or rather live forever. If life could remain interesting then I suppose I would never grow tired of it, but I have no idea how long that would take.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

If I could never be hurt and had some magical powers I would like it.

I would eventually discover time travel. When the Earth ran it's course I'd travel back to the beginning and start a new life as someone else. I'd keep doing this over and over.

I would like to live longer than the current human lifespan, but I wouldn't want to live forever. I think eventually life would lose its relevance and we would stagnate.

Our mortality, as far as I'm concerned, is what makes our life so much more important
Dying to live, living to die.
