Here's a little test to find out if you're a feminist.
It's as simple as that really. If you believe all people should be treated equally, and that women are people, you are a feminist. If you are not a feminist, you either don't believe women are people, or you don't believe all people should be treated equally. The former is sexist, the latter is... Err... Mean?

Yes, because women should choose their social role rather than have one forced on them. Hence equal rights. Hence feminism.

*sigh* Why can't people just use a dictionary when they discover they don't know what the word "feminist" means?

Still don't see why keeping men out of the discussion of fighting for their rights or against male oppression, how can you possibly say that fighting for men's rights is feminism or imply it. You just said that men who worry about rape are basically insecure or whatever ad hominem you used. This is why feminism makes people sexist.

I still don't see how this pertains feminism at all then. It's Egalitarianism.

Well duh right? according to people like you, she must be a feminist, otherwise she's a sexist.

You for example, have some extreme opinions on how we should mobilize our police force more towards women's crimes, did I get that wrong? since you did say that these crimes happen more to women did you not? if not then where's the need for feminism again? And you did say that men who feared raped were "worried about their sexuality"? what kind of statement is that?

A man who worries about being raped has issues with his own sexuality. This is because the statistics show 1 in 4 women will be raped in their lifetime (not accounting for how under-reported rape is as a crime). I haven't seen the stats on men but I'll go out on a limb and say it's much lower.
Almost as many boys (1 in 6) are sexually abused as girls (1 in 4).
Perhaps that's why men fear rape too, even if their chances drop drastically once they're adults.

Your reply is a straw man against me is it not? I clearly also want equal rights for all, however from what I've read of feminists, they don't feel that way. For example, custody of children they will likely always side with the mother.
And you conflate equal rights with feminism like someone else did. Egalitarianism is a must better definition that doesn't single out other genders other than women. I don't see Feminists fighting for trans or other genders equality either.

Under their strict definition, but I don't consider myself one. I consider myself an Egalitarian, which means equal rights for all genders without bias towards one or the other, which feminism obviously has from just what I've read so far.

Like him, i'm an egalitarian, but I don't want to be associated with the bad feminists or 'feminazi' that make the headlines. I would happily call myself a feminist if the bad part of feminism didn't exist. I've only ever heard feminists campaigning for equal rights of women but never for men. There are double standards all over the place. Like TV adverts. There was this sweet ad where two women eat the sweet and started talking really posh, then they sat down and watched a male strip show. There was no outcry from feminists. But imagine if the genders were reversed. There would be bloody outrage. You're objectifying women! Pigs! Its a clear double standard.
Or how about a more recent coca cola advert. A group of women sitting down in a park. A handsome groundskeeper mowing the lawn. They roll a can of coke down the hill for him, he picks it up, opens it and it sprays all over him. And then with the women watching, he takes his top off and continues amidst the awestruck stares of the women.
Another clear double standard. Imagine if the gender roles had been reversed.
And that's why I don't want to be associated with feminists.
Second wave feminists are more concerned about objectification of women. Third wave feminists are more concerned about slut bashing.

Maybe we can say that feminists are the subgroup of egalitarians who believe that egalitarianism entails feminism because women are oppressed.
I do believe women have been subjected to worse discrimination than men.

The funny thing about language. Dictionary definitions are not as important as what the average person means when they say a word. Words and their definitions can change as people start to use them differently. I may be a feminist based on the dictionary definition, but I am not a feminist based on the way the general population in my country uses the word.

I guess every definition has hidden assumptions. When I define "swimming pool", I don't bother to include the definition of "water" as H2O because I assume that everybody else will assume that water is H2O. But if someone thinks water is H3O, they will misunderstand my definition of "swimming pool".
