GOD IS NOT DEAD

The Sorbo character is initially depicted a horrendous caricature of what Christians who've never met an atheist imagine them to be like - bitter, humourless, angry, smug and bullying. He behaves in ways that would have him removed from his teaching job in the real world, but in the movie's imaginary world - one in which plucky Christians are mercilessly persecuted by a vast atheist establishment - goes unpunished.

And when finally he's cornered by our plucky Christian hero ("Why do you hate God?" "BECAUSE HE TOOK EVERYTHING FROM ME!!!") it turns out he's NOT EVEN REALLY AN ATHEIST. He's an embittered THEIST whose faith has been damaged by tragedy.

Now think about this; would you ask your Jewish friends to see a movie in which Jews are depicted as baby-sacrificing conspiratorial extortionists, and in which the Big Reveal at the end is that Jews really KNOW Jesus was the Messiah but just pretend otherwise for nefarious purposes?

If cleverness and wittiness were prerequisites for heaven you' get in with flying colors.

Well one thing is for sure, we all must die - then we find out if God is a myth or not.

You have to be a troll. You unwillingness to address anything substantial is infuriating, and I think that is your self appointed purpose here.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

So you don't know if god exists?

What I find particularly telling is this moment in the trailer where Professor Sorbo is all like, "in that classroom there is a god, and that's me! And I'm a jealous god..."

Does anyone else find it a little strange that the evil atheist professor, making a little diatribe to show how evil he is, starts referencing attributes of the christian god? Thinking

I try not to waste so much time on being angry about religion. If I'm going to be angry, I like to be doing other things at the same time, so the time isn't wasted. Cool Shades

I've already read the reviews and know exactly what to expect. It's not just a bad movie because its premise is laughable, predictable, and dishonest in its portrayal of atheism, it's also supposed to just be a bad movie in general. Clunky, poorly paced, plodding, and no consistent directive vision. It's not something I would consider watching even if I was given free tickets, it has a very specific audience in mind that it will appeal to and I am NOT a member of that audience. It will be time poorly wasted.

The God character as portrayed in the Bible died with the collapse of the Babylonian Empire and the death of its Emperor. That's why he hasn't been seen or heard from in over 2,500 years.

Well, sure, because the truly evil thing we are guilty of is not actually disbelieving in god, but wanting to be god ourselves. It's not the lack of evidence that makes us atheists. It's our enormous, prideful egos and our desire to be masters of our own destiny that does it.

Sorbo is a straw-atheist.

This one of my favorite lines that I've read on the movie...

Quote:The latest Christian film to find its way into our neighborhood theatres has its message emblazoned in its title: God’s Not Dead. However, any just God would likely recoil from the ham-fisted and spurious defense put forth in this film.

I went and saw the movie, "God Is Not Dead." I would like to encourage you to go see it. In fact, I am willing to pay for the price of your movie ticket as well as a guest who is willing to come with you.

I can't go out of pocket on this thing. I would need the following amount of money:

I will need gas money for driving from my house to the theater and any other stops: $18 US
I will be needing dinner before the movie: $45 US
Cost of two movie tickets near my house: $21 US
I will require a couple beverages to wash out the taste of my own vomit as I watch this gross propaganda: $15 US
I will need to cover the cost of DryCleaning said vomit out of clothing: $35 US
After the movie I will likely need cocktails to help me cope with the stupidity found in this movie: $32 US
I will need enough for postage to send you two tickets to a movie of my choosing: $0.42 US

$166.42 should cover it. Feel free to send me a check as soon as you have the funds and I'll be happy to see your little movie.

I accept PayPal.
