So just what is the translation Sven?

I respect theists more when they let their hair down a bit and give as much as they get. You've been a bit snarky and sarcastic in some of your comments and I think that's a good thing, because it shows that you're not just some comment-bot.

And I also note that you (like many people who wish to seem put upon) often respond to those who are being the most insulting, as if you want to make sure we see that cross that you are bearing. Why not just ignore the people who you feel are simply attacking you? You've mentioned a couple of times that you are a bit overwhelmed by so many responses to your posts and cannot get to them all, so why waste any time with the posts you feel are denigrating?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

RE: Suggested Rule
I think that there should be a rule for everyone to be obliged to do shakespearian insults:

http://www.shakespeare-online.com/quotes...sults.html

Quote:A knave; a rascal; an eater of broken meats; base, proud, shallow, beggarly, three-suited, hundred-pound, filthy, worsted-stocking knave; a lily-livered, action-taking knave, a whoreson, glass-gazing, super-serviceable finical rogue; one-trunk-inheriting slave; one that wouldst be a bawd, in way of good service, and art nothing but the composition of a knave, beggar, coward, pandar, and the son and heir of a mongrel bitch: one whom I will beat into clamorous whining, if thou deniest the least syllable of thy addition.
King Lear (2.2.14-24)

You want your views respected unconditionally.

No.

I respect your right to have stupid views but I reserve the right to call bullshit when I see it.

Would you resort to such language or insults in a formal debate let's say in front of a crowd at a reputable university?

That depends: would my opponent be responding with trite, one sentence responses filled with demonstrably false information represented as true, and quote mines represented as perfectly fine?

You don't get to expect the respectful tone of a formal debate while refusing to shoulder the responsibilities or expectations of respectful content that such a debate brings with it, Rev.

And as I've said, I am happy to debate you in a formal setting, if that's what you wish this to progress as. Angel Cloud
