You consider a mass decades-long coverup of child rape to be slight?

I am sorry, I do not curse very often, but you are bringing me to the brink of using pranity.

You are one ignorant, delusional individual.

Even if the greatest of evils were to be performed by some radical Pope, none of it would truly mean a thing in regards to the perfection of the Church. Your mind is only of this world and bogged-down in this world, pray that it may ponder things eternal.

One day you find out that a priest has been raping your child.

You are okay with this, and you will continue to support the Catholic Church?

Wow.

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Uh, any evidence for the bolded parts?

I will give you teaching, but it will mean nothing to you, but oh well.
#1- The Church exists here on earth, but also extends to the souls of the Faithful departed in Purgatory and in the Eternal Joy of Heaven. #2- From the time Christ said "woman, behold you son, son behold your mother", the Church was entrusted to the BVM.
#3- We recite the litany of saints during Benediction, on Easter Vigil masses, and at various other times.
#4- Christ didn't need some folding money as far as I know, that is not why He gave Himself on the Cross.
#5- Look at the example of the martyrs from St. Stephen on.

How do you know your mother loves you? Trust me, answer it in a "rational" way, with data and facts, and research, and science.

If getting 'found out' for committing criminal offences is *normal*... then what could possibly be good about normality.

Quote:The Catholic Church is not normal.

What is so hard to understand about that?

Rather... I would contend that the Catholic Church is downright boringly standard...

And it's hard to understand why the 'normality' if something is an issue.

People who compose symphonies, who accomplish our greatest feats of science... these people are not 'normal' either.

Quote:Anyone who willing and blatantly defends the Catholic Church is irrational and abnormal.

I'd be willing to defend the Catholic Church in many respects (and clearly too... though I do not know what you mean by 'blatant')...

I'm not sure whether I'd call myself particularly abnormal (whatever that means)... but I'd like to believe that I'm at least somewhat reasonable (rational?) Smile

I am speaking blatantly with truth. But I know you will call me insane and curse and do whatever you do to build up your confidence and that of your amigos. I would have a hard time, but I would have to find it in myself to forgive him. He is a man who has faults. My Faith would not extend in mixing with/conflicting with the issue any further than forgiveness. If I were lukewarm I would revoke the Good Faith, but because I am on fire with the Faith and realize it is more important than even the worst of my troubles, I would keep on keeping on. Doesn't that Truth strike you as interesting? OR just insane?

Change isn't often easy. Many are creatures of some habit... they frequent stores, they are open for socializing on weekends, they brush their teeth at around the same times each day...

Probably... the greatest 'motivation' in remaining in an institution that one is used to being in... is that they don't really think about it.

Many of their friends (and family members) go to church, after all Sleepy
