As much as I will enjoy the irony when this is set up, I just wish this separation of religion and poiotics would hurry up and find its ending. Wth were they thinking to allow the original monument? Whoever didn't see this coming has been living under a rock, or perhaps they hoped this would happen. Who knows...

Monument to Baphomet unveiled for Oklahoma statehouse

I think a 16' tall monument to my lord, the FSM ought to be next.
Why should the state kowtow to Christians and Satanists? (May 2, 2014 at 10:43 am)JesusHChrist Wrote: I think a 16' tall monument to my lord, the FSM ought to be next. I think they'd allow that one, too. I don't think the people of Oklahoma will try to draw a line until Islam tries to erect a monument. As much as they hate atheists and Satanists, Muslims get a special level of hatred there, all their own.

"If you cling to something as the absolute truth and you are caught in it, when the truth comes in person to knock on your door you will refuse to let it in." ~ Siddhartha Gautama Quote:"Constitutional law is quite clear on this issue: The state can’t discriminate against viewpoints. If they’ve opened the door for one, they’ve opened it for all.”I'm guessing that a lot of Oklahomans will ditch constitutional law for mob rule the moment it becomes convenient for them to do so. Which would, not coincidentally, be the moment someone petitions to display a non-Christian statue or sign.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

There is a similar thing going on in Florida. Except the Christians are fighting back against atheists. Apparently a granite bench with Humanist quotes is way worse than a Satanist effigy.
http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyath...ted-again/ Quote:A couple of months ago, the Levy County Commissioners voted unanimously to reject the atheists’ proposal, saying the application wasn’t complete.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

My boyfriend is a pretty talented painter. If you're willing to go with the monument in painting form, I'd be more than happy to talk him into doing an FSM painting.

The easiest way would be to just paint onto the side of the building and turn it into a mural, and while I'm fairly confident the state of Oklahoma wouldn't let us do that, I'm sure the monument could simply be a blank wall the painting is put onto.

Maybe the muslims will put aside their refusal to indulge in statuary long enough to put up a big statue of mohammed or something. Anything to further piss off the xtian idiots of Oklahoma.
