Religion is a collective term for a group of cults.

A cult is where people believe stupid things, and contribute large amounts of money to the cult leaders. Remarkably different to organised religion.
If you look up cult deprogramming online, you'll find mostly Christian sites. Ah the irony...

Don't know if this is real helpful but would a cult have the majority of those in management being insincere and a religion having at least a majority of management as sincere ?
(sincerely wrong, of course)
And in the case of of Scientology, for instance, where there seems to never have ever been anyone in management in the 'sincere' category, that would be defined as a criminal enterprise. (and theoretically, OT here)

A cult makes you believe what they want you to believe, a religion, that is the true meaning of religion, lets you grow in your own time, and the best way for you personally.
