Whats the difference between a cult and a religion?

Religion is a collective term for a group of cults.

Both have 2 main splitting points. Sunni vs shia protestant vs catholic.
Both of these groups kill each other.
Both have religious groups that don't acknowledge this split and focus on the fundamentals of the religion I know the Islamic version is called quranism but don't know the christian version.

The christian version is called "Orthodox".

A cult is where people believe stupid things, and contribute large amounts of money to the cult leaders. Remarkably different to organised religion.

If you look up cult deprogramming online, you'll find mostly Christian sites. Ah the irony...

That ain't necessarily a job or duty of their leaders. People from lower cult ranks always ask or money as well. And doe does religions. Where do you think that the money to repair the popemobile comes from?

Have you've meet people from cults? Most of the time they aren't exactly known for there silent faith. Because the constantly talk about their s**t and alway try to convince you of the happiness it brings.

And sometimes religious people do that as well, specially when they belong to minority religious group.

A religion gets a tax exempt status.

Some people create cult only for money. So you could say that getting a tax exempt status could be considered one of their achievements.

Don't know if this is real helpful but would a cult have the majority of those in management being insincere and a religion having at least a majority of management as sincere ?

(sincerely wrong, of course)

And in the case of of Scientology, for instance, where there seems to never have ever been anyone in management in the 'sincere' category, that would be defined as a criminal enterprise. (and theoretically, OT here)

A cult makes you believe what they want you to believe, a religion, that is the true meaning of religion, lets you grow in your own time, and the best way for you personally.
