Precursor of Atheism: Causal Closure

Precursor of Atheism: Causal Closure
The thesis of causal closure is that every physical effect is fixes by a fully physical prior history.

In nearly every thread, I notice that atheistic positions can be traced back to either an explicit philosophical commitment or tacit acceptance of causal closure. It makes me wonder, how many atheists of our community subscribe to the thesis of causal closure.

RE: Precursor of Atheism: Causal Closure
I've never heard the term casual closure. As far as physical history goes, Many things once called magic have been found to come from natural causes. The more we know, the more we understand without using magic to explain it.

The only thing that makes me an atheist is that I haven't seen enough evidence provided for the existence of a divine being.

That's it.
Everything else is incidental.

Actually he said "causal closure" not "casual closure" ( which does sound far more interesting, though.) The former is mere philosophical mumbo-jumbo.

I hadn't noticed that either.

Casual Closure..... sounds like a good name for a clothing store.

RE: Precursor of Atheism: Causal Closure
I'm so unfamiliar with the word causal that I read it as casual. Or maybe I made a typo, and I really am familiar with the word causal.

I'll go with whichever one leaves me with more dignity.
