Noah's Flood vs Japan?
May 26, 2014 at 4:32 pm
Creationist claim that Noah's Ark is true because almost every country has a flood myth. However there are many things wrong with this claim starting with
Each Flood myth is different. Now Every Flood myth has a different story. For example, the Great Flood of china is actually a parable of history.1 So how does a flood story not related to the actual Noah's flood, seeing as how it is nothing more then a parable. Also some flood myths actually have other gods and even goddesses that cleaned up a flood.
Also the fact that the flood myth specific to Noah in the abrahamic faiths is actually a copy of the Epic of Gilgamesh2
There is also the fact that each flood myth happened at different times. Each country has a flood myth that takes place in a different time and place, some global and some local.3
Last comes back to the title. JAPAN HAS NO FLOOD MYTH!! That is right, Japan has no flood. So what? Is japan immune to global floods? It seems to me that the japan is stronger then the god of the bible. Well lesson learned, the Japanese are gods. That and their gods must be real. Or.... The story is nothing but a myth itself. If it is true, we now know that the Japanese are stronger then God.
Now what would a creationist say to the Japanese not having a story? That they were lazy to write it down. But the Japanese do write down important history, and a global flood is well, important.

"Sir, should we flood Japan?"
"Nay Gabriel, Japan shall be the only land not to be flooded."
"Why sir, if I may ask?"
"It'd just be another excuse for tentacle porn! ...
... Hey, you down there... Don't write this down, ok?"

Seriously though, nice point!

Japan got Godzilla and Mothra instead of a flood.

Lol. That's great.
Really? Japan has no flood myths? That seems odd.

Japan not having a flood myth aside, it's still a stupid argument for someone to bring up. One of two possible things would have happened:
1) Everyone but Noah's family was wiped out, so there would be no other surviving cultures to talk about the flood.
2) These other myths came about after the fact and were distorted in various ways by other cultures. What about all the other myths in the Bible? If there's not a bunch of Adam-and-Eve myths, does that mean it's false? Tower of Babble? Exodus? Jonah? Also, if the point of the flood was to wipe out all wicked people, and the majority of people went on to start believing in other gods, of what use was the flood?
That's honestly some of the worst apologetics I've heard, apart from "God can kill babies because they just go to heaven anyway, but people can't, cuz reasons!"

Nah, man. You gotz it all wrong! You see, those babies were born in sin, and so were guilty and deserved to die! Anyway, they would've grown up to be wicked anyway! So there!

Seeing that Adam & Eve lived down the road from Assyria and Cush it's a really lousy creation story.
The Biblical flood story is written in fluff to describe how the Assyrians swept through the land kicking butt and taking names. They were like a flood, sweeping all aside and leaving death and destruction. No actual water was involved.

So I just wasted my money watching NOAH.
It's funny how the 2 female off siders were the only 2 who I connected with in the movie.

Only one thing wrong with this claim that actually matters. The continued presence of the earth. The forces involved at the intensities described wouldn;t just "flood some land" - it would destroy the earth, rip it to pieces. The kinds of things that would need to occur for such an event to happen -even by fucking magic- would be too great to leave the rock intact.
