Qatar tells female tourists what not to...

RE: Qatar tells female tourists what not to...
I've never really had much concern over what a foreign nation tells tourists what they can and cannot do. If those rules are really so bothersome then don't go. I don't go to a friend's house and then start making a big deal out of it if he tells me 'no shoes in the house.' I just take my shoes off. And if it's REALLY bad, then I don't go to his house.

I mean, yeah, maybe it seems like the rules are too overbearing to foreigners, but honestly, I've never understood the point of complaining about stale popcorn at a grindhouse theatre, you know? By which I mean; what do you expect? A muslim-dominated nation that revels in throngs of curvaceous desert flowers decked out in nothing but gold and silver slingkinis wandering around?

Sadly, no. Which is a shame. I've seen quite a few absolutely stunning middle-eastern women who dressed in the fashions that the culture demands. Natural-born works of art, never allowed to be more than glimpsed, never allowed to be appreciated by those with an appreciation for beauty.

If the female body is really so offensive to them...well, then, ladies...go to France. They have nude beaches. And if you see some dude dressed in black satins, velvets, and fishnets clinging to the most sun-deprived shadows he can find while still trying to stay within viewing distance...

...Well, come over and shove those puppies in my face. After all, I am taking on the noble task of appreciating all that T&A that the dudes in the middle east, for some bizarre reason, refuse to. Someone's gotta do it.

It's important that the government seeks its people's wants and requirements.. and cares about their interests.

We were a great country with only few population and almost no crimes and no fornications..

We were jus fine before the new projects and "more outsiders" to work in our country.

Its not that we don't welcome people to be our guests.. people who live here know how much we are friendly and good hosts.. Really good hosts

My own maid is living the dream here.. I give her a great salary and I gave here free room, clothes and food. And its against the law to treat your maid or worker with injustice .. if he or she complained for the police .. you will be punished.

But what happened is that some tourists and foreigns do not respect our traditions and religion.. we don't force them to wear the hijaab.. No .. only not too short and "almost if they were going to the beach" style.

That was ok for many years .. no one told them what to wear.. But after the increasing adultery crimes and fornications .. That made our society really had to live in.. "at least for us Qatari people" .. The government had to do something..

Sure you don't

Dubai (CNN) - Norwegian interior designer Marte Deborah Dalelv has spoken out after being handed a 16-month prison sentence in Dubai -- after she went to police to report she had been raped by a colleague.

The 24-year-old was convicted and sentenced on charges of having unlawful sex, making a false statement and illegal consumption of alcohol.

I don't have any problem with laws in Qatar. If you're going to go to another country, you must follow their laws. If you don't like their laws don't go to their country.

Seriously though whenever I read this stuff about women reconsidering their trip to Qatar to watch football. All I can think is, women were considering going to Qatar?? They must really really love soccer damn.

I seriously doubt the intelligence of a woman who would travel to Qatar if they didn't absolutely have to.

I agree. People should expect to be prepared to abide by the laws of any country they vist. Hell, they should be prepared to abide by the rules of any house they visit.

This is exactly why I would never go to Qatar, Saudi Arabia or any of those notions.

On the other hand, I have encountered people from many nations, but it seems prevalent among Muslims, who have moved to Australia/NZ/Western nations who think the laws should change to accomodate them.

My standard response to that is, "If you don't like our laws, piss off back home!"

Definitely agree with you!

I just read the OP and I thought, really you're planning a trip to a country where it's essentially illegal to be raped and you're mad because you can't wear shorts? O.o

Most of the EXPAT workers cannot leave on their own free will.

Their passports are taken by the sponsors, which allow sponsors to abuse them. Pay does not trickle down, and they are treated as merely slaves. The Expat workers do not even have any rights, and cannot file a complaint unless the sponsors allows it. Most are promise a certain amount of pay, but they are usually lied too.

Well here we call it "tecnica de relleno de blancos," I dunno if in english it has a different name. But if you don't mind I will explain it to you some other time. I just finished three corporate logos for tomorrow at work and I'm a little tired[Image: dying-onion-head-emoticon.gif]

I had totally forgot about this. Anyway the white blank paint works like this. You take a digital photo of a white wall, a white canvas or a handsome cheerful atheist wearing a white shirt in Qatar.[Image: pretty-onion-head-emoticon.gif] And in the white space latter you putt the atheistic or liberal message you want with photoshop. Like this:

Now to avoid looking very fake what you can do is this. In a piece of clothe or fabric you print your image but in fragments, or a anagram of your message could work as well. Then you take two pictures both in the same place. One of you wearing your white shirt and the other standing in the same spot but holding your fabric with the message(that way the letters will have the same tone, illumination and resolution that the other elements of the photo). You come back home, work your image copying and pasting the words of your fabric and putting it in your shirt in the computer. You use a multiply blend mode ad adjust your levels with photoshop and there you go. You have a picture of you standing in a muslim country with a shirt that says:

That's how we rebel against the corrupt political campaign back in college……but you didn't hear that from me [Image: hypnosis-onion-head-emoticon.gif]

Yeah because in all human history there has been very few rules about clothes restriction.

Is this to protect the government? Or to protect religion?

An isolated community has low levels of deliquesce with or without the restriction of clothes. The people of many native American tribes(along with other regions in the world) and populations were very peaceful society with almost few internal problems and in some regions and islands they lived almost naked.

So basically you are just being good to save yourself not because you care about her.

If you forbid the use of a list of clothes you are good hosts. But how well are you gonna take it if we forbid you the use if Hijab's when you visit our country? Are you still gonna think of me as a good host?

You think that we will agree that adultery and fornication are crimes?

And how does that has anything to do with what you just said? If people go to Qatar and they use little clothes how are they interfering with your freedom? Do you fear you are gonna be forced to dress like them? And if people are free to involved in another loving relationship how does that affect the freedom of their spouses to do the same? Isn't it better to commit adultery and get a divorce than to be forced to be part of a relationship that don't make you happy?
Because all you have said so far is:
Freedom is to do what you want as long as you don't affect other's religion and tradition.
