RE: Open to all-would you sacrifice your child if god told you to?

I don't need a god to compel me to sacrifice my child. I hate kids, so I'd sacrifice it anyway. I make a killer meatloaf. This would be a good spin on that.

The key word is "dodge". We are not talking about what they claim their god says it would or would not do. If you have unlimited power which is what "all powerful" means then you cannot rule out a god asking you to do that.
The issue is capability's as an attribute. If he does not have the power to ask you to do that then you cannot call this god "all powerful". If he does have this power then as a loyal follower if told to do so you would be duty bound to do it.
It is especially within the realm if one is going to say "God's plan" is a mystery.

If you received a message in your head that you were sure was god , telling you to kill your child , would you do it? We are told that Abraham was the sort of believer that God wanted. Do you come up to scratch?
That might depend. I have no actual children so this is strictly a hypothetical situation for me. Am I to assume that I am fond of my hypothetical progeny? If I somehow didn't totally fuck them up and turn them into worse sort of people, then hell no I wouldn't cut em' for god. On the other hand ..

This has been asked before, but I believe I should sacrifice my child if God is truly asking me to. It would be better for the child, but being human and imperfect, I'm not sure whether or not I would pass the test as Abraham did.

Having read several parts of the Bible, I doubt YHWH knows what's best for us.
The truth is absolute. Life forms are specks of specks (...) of specks of dust in the universe.
Why settle for normal, when you can be so much more? Why settle for something, when you can have everything?

No, a "test" is something you take in school. A "test" is playing a rival in a sport or game. I find anyone thinking it is ok to ask someone to kill their own kid vile.
So even if you want to call that vile story a "test", I would be happy to fail it and say the same thing Hitchens did "FUCK YOU". Kids are not props, toys, prizes, or even questions to be used as bait.
And no "Just kidding" is not an answer either. Among all the other sick acts this god watches or condones or causes, this one alone has to be top 5 most vile things to plague mythology.
And it does not even make for good metaphor if that is what you cop out to.

I presumed this was open to all gods, not just Yahweh.
I assume all good atheists if presented with a god of unimaginable power and were asked to do something horrific, they would all refuse.
Or, at least, that's the story....

If a god asked something so horrific of you, I'd hope one would have the common sense to question what type of ass they are worshiping and put him/her on ignore.

Personally I'd just think the rupture of my mind was no time to do anything rash, provided I still had hold of the volition joy stick.
