That's an excellent point. Supposedly, they absolutely know he's real. Supposedly, they're in heavenly bliss. Supposedly, they are well aware of the consequences of rebellion, and that their opponent is omnipotent and they can't possibly win. Yet they find Yahweh so intolerable they rebel anyway.
But when heaven is full of human souls, everything will run smoothly.....

We don't blame God. God is most likely a completely fictional character. We just point out the inconsistencies in your story about him.

If you tell me on the internet that someone is going to shoot me in the head if I don't beg some guy named Sam's forgiveness, it would be the height of gullibillity to act on that. I liked that whole post, Mister Agenda
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
Quote:Some people deserve hell.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Rev, this is just another astounding example of the ability of many Christians to blindly accept the unreasonable. The idea of vicarious atonement is antithetical to any reasonable concept of justice. If we primates can figure this out it would seem that a being capable of creating the cosmos could also. This is another example of why your story is myth and a reason why the God of the Bible most certainly does not exist.
You are wrong.

So Rev if you were presented with undeniable proof of the non-existence of god would you stop being a theist?
Or better still there was proof that a god exists and its Odin would you enter battle and hope for Valhalla?
These sort of questions are a waste of time.
Its along the line of asking "If my dick was ten foot long would it be a big dick?"
Well yes, but it isn't, is the answer.
I would not follow Odin.

Loving and merciful mass-extinction flood.
Loving and merciful punishment of death for idolatry.
Loving and merciful suffering of poor li'l African babies.
Loving and merciful AIDS.
Loving and merciful cancer.
Loving and merciful genetic birth defects.
Loving and merciful black plague.
Yep. Nice to know a loving and merciful God is looking out for everyone.

There's a scene in Alien 3 where Ripley jumps to her death in a pool of fire rather than live with the Alien. I can see some people willingly jump into the lake of fire rather than exist with the Biblical God character and his assorted weird creatures.
