Christianity: Don't Reason, Just Obey
|
The truly scary thing is the number of people that aren't intelligent enough to realize that something so blatlantly obvious as "Don't reason, just obey" followed by "Send money" is a scam.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
Just what the world needs - a bunch of mindless drones willing to bend to authoritarian will.
Shoot me, please.
I love that the Pope specifically goes out of his way, in that quote, to denigrate the idea of "talking too much."
Because I'd imagine there are quite a few people who talk too much about certain topics for the Catholic church.

Not new, or unique to Christians. I get this pretty much every single time I get the upper hand in a debate with followers of an organized religion.
"Intellect is egotistical, it has nothing to do with faith" "Brains aren't needed for salvation, most belivers couldn't read" "Your mind is leading you straight to hell" "Hell was built for the scientists and smartarses" I actually agree there are some things beyond the perception capacities of the human senses (We can see the world from how our eyes detect it, but that could be just how our eyes perceive it, not how the world really is; like the colorblind for instance, the apple is no less red just because they can't see it), but to discount reason altogether as evil? Yes, those unpleasant, very expensive, multi-billion dollar lawsuit topics. We shouldn't talk too much about those. RE: Christianity: Don't Reason, Just Obey

Of course reasoning is bad. It gave the world the computers which she uses to spread her ... oh, wait.
Is that for real?!
I just had a little bit of sick come into my mouth.

Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken." Sith code
I wouldn't trust anything Joyce Meyer says relating to Christianity. I don't think she knows what it teaches:
More info on Joyce Meyer If it could be proven beyond doubt that God exists... and that He is the one spoken of in the Bible... would you repent of your sins and place your faith in Jesus Christ?
And... "the vultures gather round the corpse"... once again!
