As far as sex goes, they seem to last longer than men for the purpose of being able to have multiple male partners. They are the life givers of the species. Yet for some reason men have held them down, instead of holding them up, and polygamy was much more common than polyandry. Why did we get it so backwards?

Because, as I've posted elsewhere, women are their own worst enemies. The only way the patriarchy is maintained is that women can never manage to go Lysistrata on our asses. If they did, they'd have equality delivered on a silver platter with full apologies. It won't happen because women can be so cruel to each other and there's always a Phyllis Schlaffley or a Sarah Palin ready to throw the rest of them under the bus.

Isn't the primary purpose of a rape satisfy the sexual desires of the rapist? Because this argument gives the impression that rapists do what they do in order to propagate the species. Because let's face it rapists don't care what happens niether to the victim or the offspring..

And since this statement comes from a creationists I can only assume that it's main purpose is to denigrate evolution.

A very poor intent if I may say so.

I say this because I heard another creationists using the same propagate the species argument in order to speak against abortion.

There is no absolutely objective basis for why rape is wrong (although some atheists may argue there is some form of objective basis), but that doesn't matter either way. Excluding psychopaths, sociopaths, and the like, we are generally conditioned to oppose rape and see it as really wrong. So that's good enough reason to see it as such. Knowing the exact reason(s) only matters for the purpose of knowing why, but it is not a requirement for making such a moral judgement.

I wonder how low an individual's IQ needs to be in order to ask such an inane question: "Is rape wrong?" It's certainly not helpful for social animals such as us.

It's funny when a christian brings this up. In the bible it is meant to be wrong to rape a woman. Not because it's traumatic for the woman, though. It's wrong because you're not supposed to damage another man's property. Even when the bible says it's not ok, it's saying it for the wrong reasons.

Rarely.

Sex is just the tool. Rape is usually about control, domination, and humiliation.

You have to really ignore all the data collected by studying and interviewing rape victims to believe that. If information came out tomorrow that suggested rape enhances the well-being of all parties involved, extending the victim's life by five years and making them happier and healthier, the question "Is rape wrong?" would be a topic worthy of discussion.

I've always found this a little hard to believe. If it isn't about sexual desires, why choose that anyway? surely there are more practical means of showing dominance than getting naked.

Can you think of a more effective one than taking control of your body from you?
