You are misunderstanding the word lack. Forget the word lack.
Atheism means not believing in any god, not even a little tiny bit.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

Yours is the only differing opinion. Atheism is very simple to define.

See? Two uses: either not having a thing, period, or not having enough of a thing. With regards to atheism, we use lack, meaning not having belief at all.
Just because it can mean something else, doesn't mean it does mean something else in every context.

How can you believe 1%
You can be agnostic atheist, you don't believe in any gods but you don't know that there aren't any. I think most atheists are agnostic. If you believe in a god you might be a deist or a theist but not an atheist.

Those are two separate things, and many atheists believe a god is at least, however remotely, 'possible' in the technical sense.
Hence... agnostic atheist.
