Greetings fellow dirty heathens!
Just joined today and wanted to hi to you guys, been enjoying lurking around and thought I should pitch in!
I was born in Delaware (for citizenship purposes), but moved to South Africa 10 days later. With my father’s job, we moved around to Kenya, Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and England *Deep breath* and swung through Israel, Jordan, Egypt, and France for a few weeks at a time before finally coming to rest in a suburb outside Chicago. I was raised nominally Catholic for 8 years or so, before getting kicked out of two CCD classes in a year for being disruptive (my English Anglican mom laughed her ass off). My father finally gave up, especially overseas where a Catholic church was often not within reach (he’s a very lapsed Catholic himself). I never really had a reverse road to Damascus experience..I just kind of realized that I never believed. And after reading and listening to a TON of info on religion and atheism, I’ve become rather vocal about it, and I love these kinds of forums.
