RE: Really need advice regarding my Landlord not paying Property Tax
Just call a local news station. If they don't want to help, call another one. Google should get you numbers. Just tell them what you told us.

I can't afford a lawyer and I don't have the time to study the law. Any help would be appreciated.

Interesting, so I just tell them I have a story for them and if they like it I'm assuming they would interview me or something for the news?

An agreement? what do you mean? the lease? the texts? how would the cops help? I'm ignorant of the law in this situation.

When my son and his wife were contemplating a divorce, his wife stayed with her mother but was going to give my son custody of the divorce. My son had agreed that he would not press her for child support until she either got a job or after she finished school. Her mother decided to throw my daughter in law out of the house for allowing my son to have custody. My daugher in law called the police and they informed the mom that she couldn't just kick her daughter out of the house. You have rights and they can't just kick you out without going through some sort of process. It should take longer than a month to evict you

No one wants to see a pregnant woman become homeless so people will be sympathetic to your situation.

The state is -highly- unlikely to allows such agreements as those.  They -will- pursue child support regardless of the wishes of the parent assuming primary custody.....if for no other reason (and they have plenty of good ones..don't get me wrong)...than that child support is very often a for-profit enterprise to our government.

That's why the top "offenders" on deadbeat dad lists, guys who owe millions....are so often laborers...who've never in their lives -seen- millions.  The state gets funding, and handling fees, and the more monstrous the sum owed by these deadbeats (very often otherwise known as "poor people") the greater the funding and handling fees.

When I went through it, it was simple, I got divorced in Massachusetts......so I knew I would spend the rest of my life as an indentured servant under constant threat of imprisonment. They told me they'd take up to 33% of my pay, unless I was late, and then it could increase to 66%..-before taxes- and that this would continue until my daughter was 24 years old, provided she went to college, which they would also collect on her behalf for.....in addition to any medical fees. They could, at any time, increase my commitment, but I would have to appear in court and demonstrate a minimum of a 25% reduction in income before they entertain the idea of a reduction.

I signed my name on the dotted line and kissed my money, then and now, goodbye..along with my house, my car, my boat.....but more than any of this, my 1st child - without a single word to the contrary. I'm not as strapped as most of the guys on those deadbeat lists, and at the end of the day I'd give -more- than they take if I had it to give. I love my daughter regardless of whether or not her mother loves me...and I want her to have the best.......but that doesn't mean that a great many of these guys aren't being taken advantage of, not for the benefit of their offspring, but for the benefit of the states budget.

I know, I know, not entirely related (it's nopes fault, she got me thinking about it, lol)...but I will say this..it's another one of those "Got legal problems?...get a lawyer!" kind of stories. Can't afford a lawyer? Borrow money, it might be cheaper in the long run (it -certainly- would have been for me), you just have to decide how important it is to you, and how much it will cost you to do down, essentially, without a fight. I'll tell you this right now.....the local news channel isn't going to help you. They just don't have that kind of oomph. Even if they brought attention to your situation..it would still play out as these situations do all over the country day in and day out.

This probably won't seem very comforting, but whats the upside of you -winning- some action? That you get to live under a landlord you had to sue (or who walked into a lawsuit when they thought they were going to an auction) into letting you pay him whatever exorbitant sum you will end up paying as rent? This is my advice, and it may not be worth the diskspace it occupies.........but.. I would put every ounce of effort I spent on trying to stay where I was to a better task...getting out of where I was. You're gonna be aight, your girl..she's gonna be aight. Hold the line buddy. Many of us have been in this position (my second wife and I have lived out of our car with children -and while pregnant..until we lost the car too, of course), it can be endured, it can be outlasted, you might even find that after time has softened the blow - those moments when you truly struggled -together-...deeply.....are your fondest memories. Miss and I are still trying to regain a feeling, an experience we had when we didn't have a pot to piss in, ever since we got the money to buy back the pot we pissed in. Silver linings baby, silver linings.
