Even More Homophobes
Burger King started up a line of Whoppers in San Francisco that are wrapped in rainbow wrappers with the phrase "We're all the same inside". Not surprising that some Christians see rainbow wrappers as 'shoving the homosexual agenda down their throat' and being equal to 'throwing in a sex toy with their kids meal'.

Even more, former GOP presidential candidate Herman Caine threw in his two cents (since he couldn't muster a dime~).

Well the reaction was expected. Even though I don't really see the point in this campaign since it's just promoting a political/social opinion, as valid as Christians doing the 'homo sex is sin' headlines. Maybe I'm wrong, because I'm not very fond of minorities organizations, they tend to create a mentality of victimization in every single minor action that doesn't even have a racist/xenophobe/discrimination purpose. It's ok to do this, but don't complain if another burger company has burgers packed with logos from conservative movements

I forgot the part some Christians think being gay is contagious.

I'll complain all I want if someone were to plaster bigoted, anti-civil-rights bullshit in their company, thank you very much. They have the right to be ignorant, hateful assholes, and I can call them out for their assholery.

You can and you should. But if we want to promote bigger acceptance shoving the gay flag down people's throat is not the best way to do it, it will just create feelings of annoyance and more hatred.

You have the right to be an idiot, and people have the right to call you an idiot.

What I was saying, is you can propagate any idea (in this case acceptance of homosexuality idea) but others can propagate their ideas too

If I did the same with a burger box saying 'Say no to gay marriage, traditional family FTW' I am exercising my right the same way Burger King is.

I honestly don't see how saying "I support gay rights" by way of a rainbow wrapper is "Shoving it down peoples' throats". Would you have said the same thing in the 60s if Burger King had a pro-African American civil rights wrapper?

If I lived in the 60's, who knows? Probably. Gay people already have the same civil rights as any other people don't they? People argue gay marriage, but all other constitutional rights are equal for all people.

I'm just saying forcing anti-gay people to look at the headline anytime they buy a burger is not the best way to promote acceptance, I'm not denying we should promote it.

Again, there is no issue of 'forcing people' here. Nobody is forcing people to buy these burgers, it's an expression of free speech. And no, the LGBT community does not have all the same rights as straight people. Their adoption processes are almost impossible in many areas, the Christian Right is pushing for the ability to fire/not hire gay people just for being homosexual, with that Hobby Lobby ruling. The repealing of the 3rd article of DOMA and the ending of Don't Ask Don't Tell was only in the last handful of years. This isn't something that's no big deal.

And the marriage issue isn't some niggling little leftover that can be written off, it's a huge deal, just like the fight for interracial marriage was.

First, I was going to make some kind of joke about people using hamburgers as sex toys, but then I remembered 9 1/2 Weeks taught us that food is appropriate for sexual usage.

Second, being in San Fransisco and complaining about the 'gay agenda' is like living in Berlin and yelling about everyone shoving the 'German language agenda' down your throat.
