Presumably then you prefer the Epic of Gilgamesh's creation myth, as well as its version of the great flood from which the tale of Noah's ark borrowed heavily, as the former predates the Genesis account by a thousand years?

What does that have to do with anything? I was talking about what the meaning was in a particular story in the Bible--not choosing between ancient stories.

Things in the bible that are wrong...

Unicorns, disproved.
7 day creation of the Earth, disproved.
Flat Earth, disproved.
Talking snakes, disproved.
Global flood, disproved.
Two people repopulating the Earth, disproved.
Walking on water, disproved.
Virgin birth..only if it's a freshly jizzed on toilet seat, maybe.

You don't really need much else. Especially with Adam and Eve, because without that being true, the whole religion crumbles since there's then no fall and no need for Jebus.
If the hypothetical idea of an afterlife means more to you than the objectively true reality we all share, then you deserve no respect.

Actually, it sounded like you were very much intent to trust the validity of the Abraham and Isaac story as told in the book of Genesis over the Qur'an because one was written "thousands" of years earlier. At any rate, if the meaning is that significant to you, I'd recommend studying the much older source material of Gilgamesh rather than the later Jewish version, for a better historical context of the myths.

The earliest documentary evidence we have of the OT is in Greek. It pre-dates the Dead Sea Scrolls.

This may have been an oral tradition which existed for some time prior to the Greek occupation of Judah but the reliability of oral traditions is highly doubtful.

Once the holy blinders come off the historicity of the OT takes a big hit.

Copying of the Torah and other books of the ancient Hebrews was governed by a tedious process that made sure not one letter was misplaced. Once Moses wrote it down, it was not an oral tradition--it was continuously copied with care. Historicity rescued!

-This is what annoys me with a lot of theists, when they hear about a miracle or non explained event they automatically label it as 'god's work' precociously without considering there could be possible explanations for the phenomenon.
Theists tend to do this very often - use something they can't explain as evidence for what they can't explain without mentioning magic.

@Blackout; @Begal

There is a difference between positing God as an explanation vs. using the circumstances as evidence for God. I did not mean to imply that if that is what you got from my post. There is evidence beyond the Bible to consider whether God exists.
What evidence is there behind the bible to consider god exists?

There is no evidence of any "moses." There is no evidence of any "hebrew scriptures" prior to the Dead Sea Scrolls. The tradition you refer to has to do with the Masoretic scribes and date to the 9th century.

Care to try again and this time abandon the fairy tales?

Other than the flat earth (which I don't have any idea what you are talking about) and the 6 days of creation (which has already been discussed having different legit interpretations) none of these things have been disproved. What you would have to disprove is the existence of God and that is not on your list Godslayer.

When you can produce evidence for a global flood then you can talk. Until then, Godslayer has you nailed.

I could cut some slack on the two people repopulating earth, at least it's an intuitive scenario. Hopelessly uninformed, but I don't imagine genetics would be your strong suit, given dragons and deluges.

-Fellas, I think I need to get me some christ, it's clearly potent shit.
