I always thought Joshua was a better name than Jesus, I wonder why they went with Jesus

Two syllables, was easier to cram into their pagan hymnals, no doubt.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
Hehe Joshua lover of my soul, Joshua I will never let you go....I think it has a nice ring :p

The virgin birth and Jesus type character has been doing the circles for eons.
Maybe David Ike is onto something with his lizard beings from another dimension keeping the world believing and hoping while they continue their control of the "matrix". Does it sound any more unfeasible than goddidit!
No God, No fear.

More devotionals to get the juices flowing I slept but my heart was awake. Listen! My beloved is knocking: “Open to me, my sister, my darling, my dove, my flawless one. My head is drenched with dew, my hair with the dampness of the night.” 3 I have taken off my robe— must I put it on again? I have washed my feet— must I soil them again? 4 My beloved thrust his hand through the latch-opening; my heart began to pound for him. 5 I arose to open for my beloved, and my hands dripped with myrrh, my fingers with flowing myrrh, on the handles of the bolt. -Song of Songs Myrrh you say? Sure sister, that's what was dripping.

Riiiiight Myrrh
It's remotely possible that the Biblical Jesus was inspired by a real man. He could have been one of the many Messiah claimants of the time. As he didn't cause enough disturbance to get the Roman legions involved he wouldn't have been recorded in history.
One or more of his supporters could have thought they'd seen him after his death (a very common hallucination) and the story grew with the telling. Then it somehow spread to the Gentiles who added their own mythological details. Where are the snake and mushroom smilies?

Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you
Well it's not implausible that there was a cult leader around this time about whom the myths arose. Apocolyptic prophets and cult leaders were not uncommon, and there were at least two others (that I know about) who were based in Jewish traditions around this time. while the exact details of his life, death, and resurrection are clearly fictitious it is possible that some of the teachings in his ministry are accurate to a real person.

Quote:One or more of his supporters could have thought they'd seen him after his death (a very common hallucination) and the story grew with the telling. Why would we assume any of that? Why do we have to insist upon jesus?
