Because Christians use the Bible as their source of(divine) authority, which
I consider to be fundamentally flawed.
Whereas Dawkins et al. use Science as their authority.
While this is also imperfect it doesn't pretend to be otherwise.

I've never heard anyone say that. I'm quite willing to listen to arguments by anyone who presents them clearly and distinctly and doesn't draw on superstitious mythology to back them up.
For example, the argument for creationism over evolution is entirely rooted in a single badly and simplistically written page of text from an ancient document. One of thousands of such claims that exist throughout the history of mankind. And because if this nonsensical root, nothing that follows can possible be taken seriously.

Do these people forget that Richard Dawkins, Dan Barker, Michael Newdow and science professors are only human as well? So were Madalyn Murray O'Hair, Bertrand Russel, Charles Darwin, David Hume, Robert Ingersoll, Thomas Paine, Voltaire, etc. They had to put trousers on the same way, use the toilet, keep clean, sweat, had sex drive, etc like everyone else.
1) Who the hell said this? And are you aware that atheist is a wide umbrella and not 1 atheist is representative of all? I would never assert such a ridiculous statement, and I have to wonder if you might have misinterpreted something someone said because it seems really weird.
2) All the people you listed are respectable people with varying opinions, of whom I may or may not agree with given the argument. For example, I like Dawkins when he talks about biology and evolution, but I think he's a terrible debater and the brights movement is stupid. I look at these people and see them as nothing more than people, who have in their own way, represented atheist or freethinking ideas.
Your point about these people being human and taking shits like everyone else is completely irrelevant. Jesus was said to be human, meaning he took shits and wanted sex. I bet he masturbated on a regular basis.

I'm wondering if Gillian is talking about when Christians claim absolute knowledge of God... in which case someone like me WOULD perhaps say "Your're only human" or something to that effect in the sense that: "How on earth would you, or anyone else for that matter, as a human, a mortal - be able to know the unknowable?!"

Out of curiosity, where did you "sometimes" hear this? Is it a verifiable source to begin with?
I think it is, if I may say, a retarded thing to say, if it were true, to choose not to listen because you're "only human". I have a feeling whoever said this, if true, has issues themselves. You're talking here and we're listening AND responding so what does that say about what you said then? However, if it was meant in a certain context then please specify, otherwise this is a redundant question.

The common trait of theists is attempting to prove the legitimacy of the bible with the bible which is ridiculous IMO.

You assume much Grasshopper,
Their assertation of the non existence of God is not taken for granted.
As I've pointed out in other places, the only thing that can be confirmed
is the non existence of the God of the Bible.
