So f-ing true! One of the first thoughts I had when I was sure I was an atheist was, "Damn, how am I ever going to find a woman now; they are all in church."

But are they the best league of women that you can get from an atheist male's perspective? Church going ones? :S Jesus is a big turn off lol.

Well if it was so obvious why did you ask this question, "But are they the best league of women that you can get from an atheist male's perspective?" That question shows that you think Christian women are somehow beneath you. It seemed that the, "obvious" point I expressed was lost on you because of your atheist bias.

You afraid you'll get some Jesus on ya? I can tell you from experience that Christian and Atheist va-jay-jays both feel great and won't harm you!

I do wonder about dating theists though... it is probably the same as any belief; it depends on the women. For example, I know a woman who is into numerology, should I shun her for that one kooky idea? Everything else about her makes her an awesome person.

I would be perfectly happy to go out with a Christian girl if she let me debate or argue with her about her beliefs pretty much 24/7, but I sincerely doubt that that would ever happen or that it's at all practical. That's the only reason I say no to it.

Of course it's an obvious point that there are 'kooky' women from all beliefs. I'm not stupid lol. There are some 'kooky' people (of both sexes) from all religions and all cultures and everything, I thought that was common knowledge.

My question was in order to find out how many other atheists felt the way I do about going out with the religious(Christians in the example I used). I know it's nothing whatsoever to do with the definition of atheism (obviously!!) and I know that there will be atheists who fall into both camps. I just asked purely out of curiosity to find out how many on these forums, what other atheists feel about the whole matter here.

It is a good question but your phrasing was clunky so I didn't fully get what you wanted to know. I certainly haven't made any hard decisions on the matter. Like all things it depends on the woman. I mostly think it is a bad idea.

There is a Muslim women I am currently hanging out with a bit but I am more inclined to just be friends with her due to her raging theism. She seems open to discuss religion but seems to always blast out raw assertions that bother me. Things like, "You know when God wants you to <insert non-sequiter here>." I just don't know how to even deal with a statement phrased like that. We haven't really been in the kind of atmosphere that lends itself to a religious discussion but we will see. I have talked to her a little about morals and my idea that morals are relative definitly confuses her. I can read her mind (no not literally) and imagine she is thinking, "but without God, how do you know what a good action is?"

You got that right, not practical at all! I think if you were to date a Christian you would have to take religion off the table for the most part to avoid hurt feelings. Most relationships I have been in have a few sore spots that you have to approach with kid gloves, e.g. this one has daddy abandonment issues, or that one was raped. I guess I am attracted to women with baggage. *wry smile*

I think the worst thing any of us can do is create the perfect mate in our heads then compare any person we meet to that idealized, imaginary person.
