Because we are still studying/taking our degrees, it's really hard to find a job, and even if I got a minimum wage one it isn't even near enough to afford a cheap house (rented), we are living in a financial/economical crisis, it's not easy...

So you can marry her, but you choose to wait. Smart choice.

You can't marry someone without living together, so we'll wait. And a marriage is expensive by the way, for now I must focus on my studies and excelling as much as possible. B sides the difficulty to find a job, I really can't afford to waste time working because studying occupies most of my time. Sure I could pass all classes while working, but it would be unlikely for me to excel, and excelling raises my chances of having a good job and fulfilling my dreams, I guess I'm lucky my parents are middle class and the government pays my education, 1000€ a year in public college.

The marriage itself isn't expensive (~50~100€). On that front, getting a divorce is more expensive! (~250€)
It's the "party" afterwards and all the fancy costumes people wear at these venues that make it expensive. Also, the honey-moon raises the expense bar a bit.
If you and your girlfriend can skip with these silly things, it's bearable.
Still, it's smart that you guys wait... let your parents keep paying for your stuff! Tongue

College is still "only" 1000€ per year? nice...
I knew it had risen after I left, but I thought it went higher.
Back in my days, it was only about 350€ per year! Tongue

Well my mom benefits from me, I receive a pension of 270€ monthly because my dad died when I was 16, and I don't use those 270€ every month, only 150€ on average, so I let my mum keep the remaining money for her, it's an advantage and helps. I only want to marry when I have a stable job and a nice house, I don't want to take a leap of faith and regret when I can't pay the bills.

Well in public university prices are around 500-1500€, the state pays scholarships to everyone who can't afford it, and those who are really really poor even have extra money for books, shelter and basic needs, in my case it only covers my enrollment but not books or anything like that. Luckily I'm in a very good law university, even if many people fail classes, but that's just a sign professors are demanding and only pass those who deserve, a lot of young people don't study enough and lack basic studying habits. If it's a private you run the risk of having a shitty corrupt degree and pay a lot, unless it's UCP (in portugal). Pocaracas can I ask by curiosity what course did you take, since we are both portuguese?
