Californians Likely To Cast Votes On Splitting Into 6 States
July 15, 2014 7:17 PM

SACRAMENTO (CBS SF) — Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Draper will submit signatures on Tuesday to put a measure that would split California in six separate states.
The campaign announced the development with a tweet Monday:

Draper, who recently spoke at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, said that a state as big as California needs to be broken up to be more representative and more competitive.

Their perfectly logical reason for doing this?

Han Solo: Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, and I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen *anything* to make me believe that there's one all-powerful Force controlling everything. 'Cause no mystical energy field controls *my* destiny. It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.

If it is split up, being able to support those less economic regions will vanish. Some of the six new states would take up more federal tax money than ever give any. As it stands, the state of California is able to yield more than it takes.

Draper is only doing this for his own selfish bastard interest. Shame we can't string him up.

Didn't the governor steal from schools to reduce the state's budget deficit?

For a state that's almost 50-50 in terms of national elections, it usually (well maybe always) votes Democrat and that is only from two cities in the state. The majority of Californian territory votes Republican, and from what I have seen from these Republicans, if the GOP from the other states acted like them, the Democrats wouldn't have a chance in power.
That figures that the Republicans would be up to dirty tricks because that is the ONLY way that they can regain the White House.
Dividing California might favor republicans. Consolidating the Dakotas, Montana and Wyoming and a few other low populous red state would favor democrats. Do both at once and democracy is served.

As long as the single-party system thrives in America, democracy is not served.

Did you know they arrested leaders from the third parties for trying to get into the Presidential panels?

States aren't going to be consolidated.

I think it would be sweet to combine northern California, Western Oregon and Western Washington into a single state. The weed belt state.

Texas already has congressional approval(way back in 1845) to split into 5 states.

Texas was readmitted to the union in 1870 which, I imagine, would render any prior legislation null and void.

Congress still has to approve each new State.

Texas' admittance has no bearing on that protocol.
