I think that it's likely that a lot of it has to do with the way George Bush abused religion in the Wake of 9/11 to bring us into a war in Iraq by claiming that God was on his side. Clearly, if God exists, he wasn't on our side, because, after we took out Saddam, the war turned out to be a total disaster, and the conflict between Christianity and Islam became more and more clearly akin to the conflict in District 9.

are we the bugs or the people?

The rhetoric was turned up after 9/11 becuase 9/11 was rhetoric. They couldn't let such a powerful motivator go to waste. So there was Osama, and the Patriot Act...

If you guys still believe in the 19 hijackers form Saudi Arabia led by Bin Laden, then please do more digging.

Which essentially goes hand in hand about being fed up. It's no surprise that when the Nation took a severe swing toward the religious right when Bush was elected in '04 that there was a non-religious backlash, and books are a great medium for gaining momentum.

Before 9/11 I thought of relgious people as a bunch of harmless whackos.

9/11 openned my eyes to what a truly religious person is capable of.

Worth fighting against?

You bet your life it is.

And remember the 9/11 terrorists did it as an act of devotion to the same god you christians worship.
