Wait. Was that the one where the meteor hit Dallas?

The one where an entire half hour of dialogue consisted of "mom" calling "Elliot" and Elliot calling "Mom" as they blundered through the wrecked city.

You mean there was another shit movie with a meteorite?

I thought this one would be alright 'cos it had Dennis Hopper in it.

I was wrong.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Plot: Wolverine battles the powers that be who are out to ruin his brand. No matter how hard he fights and yells at the sky, they are one step ahead of him. He never once gets the upper hand and ultimately fails. So does Gambit. So does Deadpool. So does Sabretooth.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

I'm still having trouble narrowing it down but anything with Hugh Grant in it or directed by Richard Curtis is high on my list. Which would probably make 4 weddings my worst film because it stars Hugh Grant and is directed by Richard Curtis.

And what's the name of that british film about stripping miners? That was a particularly bad film too.

Monsters. What was sold as a low budget auteur work, a character driven monster movie with a strong-albeit unsubtle- metaphor at its core, turned out to be a shitshow. Low budget? Check. Character driven? I guess, in that the entire running time is devoted to the two profoundly unlikeable leads as they trudge around shitty locations without once delivering a line of dialogue that a real human being would ever utter. Metaphor? Doesn't even make sense. Here's a hint: if you're going to make a movie about segregation and immigration, do not make your immigrant stand ins thoughtless, lumbering animals that do nothing but cause destruction. It tends to send the opposite message.

All this is capped off with one of the most pretentious denouements I've ever seen, that plays itself up as some profound moment despite adding nothing to anything, ever. The director, Gareth Edwards, went from this pile of dog garbage to the newest Godzilla film, demonstrating that he still doesn't really have a handle on the idea that character driven movies need to have interesting characters, but that he can shoot monster action pretty well when he lets go of the auteur shit. He's making a Monsters sequel that appears to be more action heavy, which might turn out okay because of it, but man, fuck this movie...

When and how you first experienced Star Wars might have a lot to do with it. There really was nothing else quite like its visual special effects before. Also, Dolby sound technology existed and had been used before, but there was some genius in how it was used in Star Wars. The meticulous detail and combination of both created a revolutionary audio-visual experience. Even with the advent of CGI and the passing of almost 40 years, this aspect of the film still holds up remarkably well in my opinion. Star Wars is also one of those films that is markedly different in the theater.

I was 7 when my father took me to its opening. A simple plot and underdeveloped characters don't mean much to a 7 year old, but these realizations later in life didn't degrade the movie in my opinion (I was likely already too attached). I can look beyond this, because I still find much of the banter witty. There's certainly nothing philosophically deep about Star Wars, but the pastiche of tried and true plot devices supports the action; even if overly operatic at times.

I almost forgot to mention John William's score.

Lord of the Rings,
Star Wars,
Harry Potter,

Way too many actual bad movies are out there to list before placing any of the mainstream and mostly popular movie franchises. Stuff like this and Rocky and Godfather claims are posts obviously made to start controversy. I'm not that big into Star Wars, and don't get me started on cheesy slasher flicks, but I'd never list it anywhere near the worst just because I'm not a big Sci-Fi or mindless slasher fan. This is just silly.

It wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't been linked to highlander. It made no sense if you had seen the first film.
