I'm good, but thanks.

Are you in the US? Do you have an HSA? If not, get one. Unless you're wealthy, it's about the only way to manage that deductible (I have a 5k individual / 10k family deductible - and health care expenses out the wazoo).

RE: Tired of just Surviving?
CD,

No, I understand that. And I understood that at the time. That was a main factor in buying the house in the first place. What I was alluding to (without revealing too much of my private life) when I mentioned 2008, was the banks failing. I should have been more clear in my rant.

My bank at the time was Countrywide. Soon after I modified my mortgage, BoA bought them out. And in the transition they "misplaced" some of my record. They showed three months of no payments. No matter what proof I presented of my payments (check numbers, bank statements) they didn't care. They wanted me to pay, which I couldn't. I kept fighting it and the debt kept growing. It got to the point that they quit accepting my regular monthly payments and they put my house into foreclosure. It's been in foreclosure for 5 years! My lawyer tells me it's common and they really don't know what happened in my case. She did say the amount of time they have been dragging their feet is unusual.

At this point, I'm so drained from fighting it, I'm heavily considering bankruptcy and moving in with my parents.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Ah, that explains it. I also had a loan through Countrywide that was sold to BoA. Luckily, I didn't experience what you did. On the other hand, I went through a pile of BS when BoA sold my second to Greentree without properly notifying me - I kept sending payments to BoA (who accepted them), until I started getting threatening calls from Greentree.

2008 was a suckfest of major proportions. Fuck the banks, fuck the regulators, and fuck Congress. Bastards.

I do, sadly it been depleted due to emergency expenses before I been able to use it to pay off said deducible.

Hear, hear!

When BoA took over I wasn't properly notified either. I thought that was the issue at first, but they had the records. I couldn't even tell you the amount of hours spent on the phones being transferred around, each representative giving me a different reason for the missing money, which were all clearly bumbling guesses.

Plus side- I've been putting the monthly payments that they quit accepting 5 years ago in a savings account.

Not exactly. We make dental prosthesis. We mostly specialize in the removable kind. Hope you never need our services.

If you do, you may want to ask your dentist where the crown, bridge, denture, partial, etc. are made and if you can get a written assurance that the appliance is made in America. You'd think all the lead in toys from China would discourage the industry from putting things made in China in the human mouth but no. Some dentists really do care, no matter how cheap the products from China may be, and have asked me for written assurances that none of my prosthesis are outsourced. Some don't. And some are squeezed so hard by their insurance companies that they are forced to.

Things are getting better. New state regulations have just been implemented requiring all dental laboratories to inform their dentist clients where the prosthetic they order is made. Before now, the lab could outsource it and the dentist would be none the wiser, possibly placing lead-infested crowns in his/her patient's mouths and having no idea.

To what extent this new law will be enforced remains to be seen but it's a step in the right direction. To the best of my knowledge, the dentist is not yet under any such obligations to inform the patient. I think it no small irony that I can buy a t-shirt from Wal-Mart and know where it was made but get a crown cemented into your mouth and you have no idea. If protectionism is out of the question, at least full disclosure should be required, both for the dentist and the patient.

We have enjoyed an upswing in our business in recent months, picking up a few new clients. I'm not sure if my religious devotion (pardon the metaphor) to outsourcing nothing is paying off but I've been getting a lot more questions lately about that.

Quote:Property taxes last year were only paid by shedding property (which is also my livelihood).
The government is funny that way. Even when your property can't sell and you can't get a loan on it, they still want the full tax value. Even though my property didn't sell at $169K, the government still insisted on taxing my property at the original $277K sale price.

I appealed the evaluation, arguing that if the property didn't sell at $168K, it couldn't be worth that much. They only agreed to lower the taxable value to $235K, which makes no sense but maybe I should be thankful they budged at all.
