My point was that we already know that a lot of people trust atheists less than convicted rapists. So why be surprised when this happens? And why do it in the first place? So we can feel persecuted when the very thing we knew was going to happen, happens?

You're contradicting yourself. You say "Nowhere did I say people should be fine with it.", but your later paragraph just goes against that completely.

Replace atheists with black people. Or Jewish people. I'm sure you wouldn't be using the line "so we can feel persecuted when the very thing we knew was going to happen, happens?" then.

Why do it in the first place? Because they have a right to. They also have a right to feel persecuted and a right to tell people about it. If it was happening to Jewish people, or Black people, or Chinese people, I bet you'd have a completely different attitude.

Exactly. It's not okay. So what's your point. What are you suggesting? That people don't have the right to use the packaging they want? Even when it's something that shouldn't be incendiary? That's not okay either.

So if you don't want your package to get tampered with, don't make it incendiary. Don't put religiously/politically charged messaging on the outside, because some people are stupid, and will do stupid things.

Again, this is not okay. It shouldn't matter. People should do their damn jobs properly. If it was a racial equality message on the packaging and a bunch of racists ruined the deliveries people would be far more outraged right? Right. You wouldn't just blow it off and say "well, surprise surprise, you don't have a right to complain, you should of known racists were part of this organisation that delivers the mail".

C'mon dude, it's fucking bullshit. Just because stupid people do stupid things, and just because you can predict the outcome, doesn't make the outcome any less outrageous. Nor does it invalidate your complaints if said outcome happens.

I'm not contradicting anything I've said. I agree it is preposterous behavior. I just think it is perfectly predictable behavior. It shouldn't be, but the reality is that it is. All these "shoulds" are nice in a vacuum, but in the real world that doesn't fly. Of course people should do their jobs properly, but that's not always going to happen. I am not saying people shouldn't be outraged, I am not saying anyone should be okay with it. I am just saying in the real world, people have prejudices, and it would be prudent to operate with those prejudices in mind. Just like I, as a black man, have to operate with my skin color in mind anytime I get pulled over by a cop in Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, or Tennessee. I make sure that my wallet and registration are out and on the dash, because I have been slammed up against my car for reaching into my glove compartment without asking first otherwise. This is outrageous, but that shit doesn't happen to white people that I've ever heard of. So I adjust, knowing the reality of the situation. It's fucking outrageous and makes me so furious I get sick thinking about it, but it's the reality of the situation.

I know that there are a lot of people that dislike atheists for whatever preconceived notions they have. I don't wear my atheism on my clothing or have a FSM sticker or Darwin fish on my car for that very reason. Two reasons, really, first and foremost I don't think you should broadcast your religious preference, but two, I know that the reality of the situation is that I'll encounter more problems, be it ignorance or speeding tickets that way.

It isn't right. But it's going to happen. Especially in America. What can be done? How can you oversee a mailman who is by himself all day? If he wants to lose a package because it has "Atheist!" on it, who is going to stop him? Of course people have a right to complain! Nowhere did I say you shouldn't even complain. I am just saying save yourself the worry.

US Postal Service discriminates against Atheists, the Atheist Shoe company in Germany sent some shoes to the USA with plain tape and some with Atheist tape, more of the Atheist labled shoes went missing or arrived late.

No packages with the Scientology tape were received at all . . .

Jehovah's witnesses packages always get returned to sender since 144,000 have already been sent.

Hindu packages may come out different on the other end, depending on how the package acts.

Buddhist packages need to be tossed around and kicked a little and then sent in one of Four Ways (so they basically get the same treatment everyone else does).

Muslim packages get sent to Mecca first then get parcel posted to an office where 72 virgin women inspect the "package" and feed it grapes all day for eternity.

Agnostic packages sometimes go by UPS, Fed-Ex, or the post office and finally either pick one or hope for the best.

Christian packages are insured, but due to an inability to live up to Postal Packing Standards find their packages can't make a claim.
