RE: So I just got back my IQ score and diagnosis and I'm sad

I have no real idea what my IQ might be - though I have a couple of guesses - but what's even more interesting is I don't particularly care. I'll still be the same me tomorrow as I am today. I know my strengths and weaknesses, I know my limitations. Putting a number to it isn't going to change anything of value to me or about me.
And I've had problems with eye contact all my life. There's only been two people I've ever been able to feel comfortable enough with to achieve and maintain eye contact; the first was stolen from me and the other I'm going away for the weekend with. I can't even do that with my own family. So if that's symptomatic of ASD, put my name down as well.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I am socially awkward too, it makes meeting new people very tough to do. It could be my location too, whch i am ready to relocate.
I would be a televangelist....but I have too much of a soul.

Competition sucks. Schools put you with your peers and then grade you. The high scoring ones don't try any more because they feel they don't have to. The low scoring ones give up because they feel inadequate. All that's important is that you get the most out of whatever you're doing. You're the best you there is. It sounds like your counseling was counter productive.

I used to be more idiotic when I was a straight A's student than when I started learning for the sake of learning.

108 is not average - Perhaps psychologists and doctors consider it to be - But if we investigated everyone around the world I'm sure most people wouldn't reach 108, 100 would be the limit. Starting by Muslims. Don't depend too much on IQ, I've discovered in college that as long as you're moderately smart your hard work is what counts more - Seriously.

Wut??? What I'm saying is - The average IQ will probably be around 100 I guess, for some people less, others will have more, but I'm pretty sure an IQ of 108 is pretty good, I don't think I would score higher. It's not exactly about being overly smart, but what you can do with your skills - If you put the most of you in everything you do, you can make a difference and succeed. I think the OP should look at the bright side and be happy he isn't mentally retarded - He is normal and healthy, which is nice.

Yes, precisely. 100 is the average (I think even by definition) and only 30% of the population have more than 108, so that's something.
But again, IQ scores don't mean too much besides measuring your ability to take IQ tests.

Really, a college that requires you to take IQ tests? So do they have a minimum requirement, or is that just something they take into consideration when reviewing applicants?
