Christianity in America is so fucked up

RE: Christianity in America is so fucked up
You guys are ready to jump at anything! All I said was that I hope that the end comes soon. I'm not predicting when. I have no idea. Read what I say and stop assuming things. You pick on me enough for what I do say, let alone what I don't say!

That would be the dangerous creepy part.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

For you, not for me. Don't worry. I'm not planning on setting off any nuclear weapons or anything in order to make it happen.

Yep, because there's nothing remotely worrisome about the kind of person who can earnestly say "I long for the day when you all die."

If it's all the same to you, then I would like to kill you now. That way we both get what we want. I will have assurance you won't try anything to hasten the end, you will have assurance the end for you will come soon.

This is the same issue we have with the oft-expressed hope that we outside the bubble deserve postmortem punishment simply for not being a member. It's not that we think for a moment that that's anywhere close to reality, or that you have or even want the power to make it happen - it's the expression of that wish that we deserve the fate.

If I went around saying that I think all religious people deserve to be boiled alive in a vat of acid, what would that say about me as a person? Now take that assessment and multiply it by the infinity of the theist threat. Or in this case, the body count necessary for the scenario. That's what I for one think of you.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Again, you guys are assuming things about me. I don't want anybody to go to hell. I don't take any pleasure in thinking that anyone is suffering. You all have preconceived notions about me and other christians that aren't true. Why wouldn't I want the end of the world to come if I expected eternal happiness after that? It has nothing to do with your situation. I do want you to be saved. That's why I'm always reaching out to people. But if someone is going g to hell, they are going to go there whether they die now or die 50 years from now.

And that's the part that's fucked up. You are hoping for a better afterlife, so you want this one to end. How does that make you any different to Pamela Christensen, who stabbed her daughters so they could meet Jesus on the word of her ex-pastor husband who is convinced the world's about to end? Maybe you haven't picked up the knife yet, or hopefully don't intend to, but what makes your hope any different to theirs?

Howsabout you stop wishing for the apocalypse until my children are grown and dead...and theirs as well......and theirs.....and theirs....and..no, you know what? Just stop. Or at least keep it to yourself.

I know, I know - it sounds great to you because you're probably convinced that you're on the list (why...I have no idea, I wouldn't let you in if I were the doorman) - but this doesn't mean that it isn't sinister to anyone who does not share in your particular fantasy, nor would the existence of any heaven make the apocalypse any less sinister even if it were all true. More of this washed in the blood hossannah shit - you're just getting an idea of what it looks like from the other side of the bridge. Nothing needs to be assumed about you, that singular statement was enough.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

When I say that I want the world to end soon, it just refers to a personal feeling of mine. It's kind of like I'd like to retire now, but I still need to work until that time comes. Actually my desire is to do the will of God. If I could go now, that would be great, but I'm really committed to doing the will of God. He has a plan for me and I don't know if it entails hanging around for a long time or going soon. We belong to God and we have no right to take a life that he has created. That's his decision, not mine. Stimbo, you and others here can all choke and vomit if you want, but I pray regularly that you all would be saved, because that's what I really want.
