Favourite video game franchises/genres
I'm feeling bored and curious so I felt like asking you (gamers) what are your preferences when it comes to franchises and genres of video games... If you wish you can include the platform you prefer.

I played on PC when I was a kid, then I switched to the PS2 and then the PS3, now I'm going back to PC - Playing on a shitty laptop but I will soon buy a better gaming PC.

Here's my list - I will include the name of the franchise and my favourite game from that specific series (you can discuss if you want):

Platform:
- Rayman - Rayman 2
- Crash - Crash Bandicoot - The wrath of cortex
FPS:
- Half life - Half life 1
- Wolfenstein - Return to Castle
- Call of Duty - The first ones (up to COD 3) and COD Black ops 1
3rd person action/adventure games:
- Tomb Raider - TRII/III
- Resident Evil - RE4
Strategy games:
- AOE - All of them
- Civilization (I've only played IV and V, I can't really say for sure)
Open world/RPG:
- GTA - San Andreas for me
- I'm not really a fan of RPG's, so no elder scrolls or anything
Hack and slash:
- God of war - GOWII
- Devil may Cry - DMC3
Stealth (probably my favourite genre):
- Metal gear solid - MGS2
- Splinter cell - Chaos theory/double agent (6th gen version)
- Assassins creed - ACII and AC revelations - I'm not sure if AC is a stealth game though
- Hitman - H:Blood money

And of course - Gameboy games:
- Pokemon up to the 4th generation (all games)

And now sports:
- I've always liked PES and FIFA, depending on the mood and platform
- I also liked NBA2K a lot, at least the ones I've played

Feel free to rant.

Just wondering did you enjoy blacklist? It's the only one I haven't played yet, but I didn't like some of the new mechanics much (I watched some videos) .

I have over a hundred hours on both of these:

There's also the Mass Effect series and Dragon Quest IX...

I'll stop there, lest the definition of "favorite" become watered down.

Well I'm afraid I'm no help in this regard, because the last Tom Clancy game I played was Pandora Tomorrow on XBOX Undecided

In no particular order -

Franchises -

The Elder Scrolls franchise.
Civilization (all of them)

Individual titles -

Fallout 3 + New Vegas

There's a lot of shooters I used to play a lot but I'm pretty tired of the whole genre - though I used to really love the old Rogue Spear titles. Pretty dated these days.

For retro gaming, X-Com: UFO Defense is fun. I have the recent remake, and that's pretty fun as well.

Dark Souls is easily my favorite series of all time. A year or so ago I would have said Mass Effect, and I still love Mass Effect like crazy, but having played Dark Souls 2 now, I have to say that any series that can have a game literally be a knock-off version of an earlier game and still be brilliant is clearly doing something right. I can't justify not calling that my favorite now.

Other than that, I've been a Nintendo fan since I was a kid, so I have an enormous soft spot for Super Smash Brothers. That shit is like concentrated nostalgia for me, with the added benefit of just being a lot of fun to pick up and play. I'm loving the new one, right now.
