Walmart hurts small businesses but they help the consumer by offering a larger selection of products at substantially lower prices. Walmart and McDonald's increase the standard of living and we are better off that they exist.

Says who? The CEO? Of course they would say that. Try listening to the workers.
If those bullies shut down shop you could argue that it would hurt for a while, but if they were replaced with good wealth as a majority of business like COSTCO and Moo Cluck Moo, we could recover fine without them.
Any business that does not care about the lowest paid ability to make ends meet has no business being in business.

If people got more value for their money from a small business instead of Walmart....they would go to the small business.
Its the people telling me. I walk into a Walmart and its always crowded with people buying stuff which makes their lives better at cheap prices.

I see....you would rather have all those Walmart employees have no income at all...by closing down Walmart...because YOU don't like their pay rates....then having them get the wages they agreed to work for?
Nobody forces anyone to work at Walmart.

Hello McFly, all you are arguing is that the ends justifies the means. I just got done telling YOU about someone who sides with YOU that even with that as a small business owner they agreed with ME that Walmart hurts small businesses.
Big business is needed, you will not here me argue that they are not. But again, there is good wealth and bad wealth. COSTCO is an example of constructive wealth. Their higher pay allows their workers to not only buy there but also at local businesses.
Bad wealth is what Walmart does. We subsidize their bank accounts through food stamps because their workers are basically stuck buying at those places most of the time because that is the only place they can afford to shop. And on top of tax payers subsidizing their low wages mentality, they also move into a location and undercut and kill small businesses.

No kidding, that was not by accident, did you read my first line?
I used it to dispel the myth that liberals are anti business. Images of North Korea are what republicans and libertarians get in their heads when liberals question wealth at all.

Billionaire Nick Hanauer has said that he does not create jobs. He has said that no business owner will hire someone unless demand forces them to. The bulk of society is made up by workers in the middle class and poor. The workers create the demand so when they do better business does better.
Creating jobs is easy. Make it a law that all public roads have to be built using only spoons and no heavy equipment. To build a freeway, you would have to employ hundreds of thousands of workers.
But jobs don't make people better off. Stuff makes people better off. Automation is making it so less people are needed to make the stuff we want. The inevitable situation I see coming is a necessity to redistribute the tools by which we exchange goods an services. That tool being money.
That redistribution is going to happen one way or another. They road we are on is one where there is a massive government bureaucracy controlling our lives. The one I would like to see is the elimination of government bureacucracy and the ragbag of government programs, safety nets,t etc...to be replaced by a simple universal basic income.
Nope. Sorry, you do not get to decide by yourself based on your own desires how political pluralism works. You either allow voting and accept when others get a shot at lawmaking otherwise you are merely advocating your own personal monopoly.
FYI the founders set up our Constitutional Republic as representative government. They knew eventually the population would grow, so the number of representatives would grow with it.
You are not going to convince me that less government works when those who have gained the most from it over the past 30 years have hurt workers and wages.
All you are advocating is "Government works only when I win".
We let business have most of the say and most of the power and it has abused that power.

You don't pay attention to all the republicans on media and social media that falsely try to make the argument that any questioning of how business is done makes the questioner evil and anti west.
It is not intended for you then. It is intended for those who try to pull that slippery slope argument.
