I've never understood the "I used to be an atheist" opening gambit. To me it's like saying "I used to be sane, but now..."

Doesn't add any weight to an argument. Either what you have to say is convincing or it is not.

Why does god need so much help in convincing people he is real? If he actually wanted to communicate with me, I'm sure he wouldn't need an interpreter, or someone frothing at the mouth pointing to him saying he is real.

I was once an atheist... and I still am!
I've watched hundreds of youtube videos... And I'm still atheist! Even more so, if I may say it!

How is one youtube video going to present any evidence of the existence of any god that those other hundreds haven't attempted to present?

As a child, I was once peer pressured to become a theist by people that I trusted, only to find out later that they too had been peer pressured to believe silly things unquestionably. I found that they created their personal god out of their own ego in order to make any sense out of the peer pressure. Only a few of the questioning ones ever came to realize that they were only talking to themselves during their prayers. No amount to praying, begging, or Drich's "knocking" could ever cause god to answer on his own. Without my own hand in the puppet, the puppet was dead, and I was an atheist.
