By now everyone knows that Obama finally got his executive order on immigration. And since the day after Obama beat McCain the GOP has acted like petulant brats crying tyranny even before he took the oath.
Now these assholes expect him to work with them?
While you could claim some of the GOP and Tea partiers are ignorant of the constitution, but most of them are not and they know exactly what they are doing. They are flat out lying about this issue in calling Obama a tyrant.
Now a little civics lesson here that the GOP for the most part understand but is lying and simply selling fear to scare their base. Every single president for the past 50 years has addressed immigration, through law AND executive order. But that is only one aspect of why these assholes are wrong.
When Obama said "I am not a king" he meant that. It is dishonest for the GOP to take that out of context. Now that he has passed this executive order, the GOP CAN try to counter it. The laws are there to counter it. They can write a law that Obama can sign that negates what he did. Or they can vote to cut funding to it. Or they can challenge it in court. They know this. And if they get the White House the next congress then or the next president can change by congress or executive order any or all of it. And Obama by law has to leave office in 16 no matter what. So no tyranny going on.
Now here is why these brats are crying. It isn't that they don't have options. They do, but that Latinos now know who is on their side and they simply do not like Obama getting credit for it. Republicans in the past did the same damned thing on immigration to gain favor from Latinos.
So lets review the GOP's legal options.
1. Write a new law get it passed and even if Obama vetos it the first time, by law he would have to sign it the second time. That IS an option they have. What they do not like is that even when they get power, that road will be tough, if not impossible, but the legal OPPORTUNITY to try is there.
2. Defund it, but that would make the GOP look like dicks to Latinos.
3. Challenge it in court. The court will side with Obama and all he will have to do is point to the same actions republicans took. So on top of loosing again, that will make the GOP look like dicks to Latinos.
4. Win the White House in 16 and undo it, again, would make the GOP look like dicks. But there is nothing stopping them legally.
NOW, here is what is really going on with these brats. They got schooled. Nothing more. It would be no different than and NFL game where Joe Montana took 3 steps back, read the corner backs and safeties and caught the safety out of position and passed for a game winning touchdown.
Separation of Powers was set up so that if one part of the government was unresponsive the other could counter it. That is part of the system of Checks and balances. And like I said, the day after Obama won, the GOP threw a fit like brats and obstructed everything he did and what he did get done was slowed down and watered down. Now suddenly after being obstructionists now they want to call Obama the tyrant? Even though after he is forced by law to leave in 16?
There is no absolute power for either party set up by our government. I hated Bush's ineptness and the crap he left us. But even with that I knew no matter what he had to leave after his second term.
If the voters are stepping on the rights of other voters, the citizen can appeal to their elected officials, if that does not work, they can file a complaint to the court. And if that does not work they can even appeal to the president.
And even with that, not even that stays the same long term. Long term if you win a future power can change part of what you do, or all of what you do. Even prior Supreme Courts have been reversed by future Supreme Courts.
The truth is there is no tyranny going on. Both parties have the same tools to use long term and both have used ALL of these tools and power has shifted BECAUSE of the same tools both have access to.
This is simply fear mongering on the GOP part. They got smoked on this issue and they simply once again, are sore losers, and it makes even less sense to claim tyranny considering they won the last midterm.
