It's the biggest cop out ever to blame every bad thing on man, and every good thing on God. Talk about scapegoating.
I mean, come on? Some guy shoots a bunch of people? His fault. Tornado? Adams fault, he ate an apple. A surgeon saves someone who was going to die without emergency surgery. God gets the credit. A grenade blast kills 4 out of the 5 people near it, leaving one crippled. The 4 died because man is wicked, but god saved the fifth one. Anyone see the problem here? He's getting credit even if he doesn't exist, and it is being taken away from the people who deserve it. If God made everything, for no better reason than to have something to do or things to tell him how great he is, it's his responsibility. Especially if he can see the future and tell how things are going to play out, then it's just setting up the dominos. He could have set them up better. These are all cons religion uses to get you not to question the "truths" which have no power to explain anything, or which can be demonstrated to be anything other than made up. Yes, there could be something somewhere that made this "reality". Say there is. Is it more likely that (a) we know almost nothing about it, and maybe never will or (b) a 2000 year old book written by superstitious warmongers with an agenda happened to write down everything you need to know about this being, when they clearly didn't even understand very basic facts about the world and wrote entirely from their perspective, ignorant of what was happening in the rest of the world. Especially since there are several religions, all making similar ridiculous claims, with very different details (although very similar mythological themes). They can't all be right, but they can all be wrong. Pick any two Christians and you'll find they don't even agree on everything that is supposed to both obvious and divinely true. I always thought that James Potter sounded like a douche in the book and felt bad for Snape.
Kinda late to the game, but welcome!
