Nice to be here.
I have been reading these fora for a while now, so high time I introduce myself.

Although I grew up in a protestant family and school, I have always been an atheist. I think I am missing the gene you need to believe :-) and I never thought it was a 'thing', until I moved to the US (North Carolina). Coming from the Netherlands, that was quite a shock. There are actually people who don't want to have anything to do with you just because you don't go to church. After trying to fit in for 12 years I have moved back to Europe, but it is starting to look like I am heading back there. So I may be in need of some moral support from some fellow heathens :-) at some point.

I won't bore you anymore at this point. Ask away if you want to know more......

He's right. There's Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas among many other garden spots of free thought and tolerance.

Welcome! I'm new here myself, but everybody is most welcoming and kind. I can only imagine the incredible culture shock you must have experienced after moving here from the Netherlands. I'm in Mississippi, which is as bad or worse than North Carolina, so I probably know some of the things you experienced there. Well, if you move back to the U.S., I'd suggest a different state if at all possible. All of the states are not created equal.
