Hi there! I'm a newbie on these threads. Been an atheist for over two decades and proud of it. In my world, reason and rationality rule, not dogma and superstition.

I've been a poster on another site's religion forum and the rules there are a bit stifiling. You're supposed to show "respect" for other's opinions. While I would not insult somebody, I find it difficult to "respect" beliefs that are positively nonsensical (and if I posted that on the other forum I would be in trouble). You have to be careful what you say or else you'll get a ban. Once, I was given a temporary ban for posting what I thought was an innocuous and silly joke. I often feel as though I'm walking on eggshells as I frequently wonder if something I've written could in any way be considered "disrespectful". I'm guessing it's not the same here.

Looking forward to much stimulating discussion!

Hi Thor and welcome to our spot in cyberspace.

The theists and atheists alike here have a high degree of freedom of speech here, which is what I value the most about this site. Ad homs are in itself not a banning offense, but if you can't argue your point without insults then you probably don't have much of an argument to start with.
