I am not "out" on FB, unless any of the atheist pages I like end up getting shared somehow. I don't comment, "like", or anything on any religious posts, friends or family make. If anyone is too over the top, I unfriend them, or hide them. Same with politics. I would like to be more open, but I tend to keep it friendly and superficial. Angel

I find most social networks to be full of complete idiots who often times like to just make fun of people and make stupid jokes rather than think about things logically or atleast be halfway funny. Thats why I typically don't use social networks other than to promote my YouTube Channel.

I do indeed - and I think I have all of about 7 people in my circle, all from here. Big Grin

Who are you people interacting with? I cull my friend feeds of anything stupid I don't want to see, and I have a great time interacting on FB with my friends. The status we're discussing now?

Seriously. Social media is a tool. How you wield it makes all the difference.

I started commenting on that page. So far, run-of-the-mill stuff in reply -- "you don't know god well enough", and "you don't question your own skepticism".

We'll see how long it lasts. Neat little experiment, that's what I've got in mind.

I have considered making a separate facebook page where I could be more open with my atheism.

My problem is that I come from insane, close minded people who I have the misfortune to love so I don't wan to cull them from my friend's list. Sometimes they post the stupidest things and on occasion they actually embarrass me.

I made the mistake of liking and commenting on a few atheist facebook sites and one of my relatives followed me into the discussion. She did such a poor job defending her views that several people thought she was a troll
