funny question
December 11, 2014 at 1:32 am
could you sue a religion over how false it is like Christianity? They say they have answers that need faith but proof is something they lack. Say for instance they advertise having truth but do not give truth they could get sued for that. But can they be sued over false claims that require faith and belief. because if that could happen i would be amazed. Think of a random person who said religion made my life worse and lists of why and how it did because there is some use of threats and that being said the threat is hell and well that is a form of abuse.

But then you would have to prove there is no god, which we can't, but its a good idea.

How could you sue a religion? That doesn't really make sense now does it?

You can prove that prayer doesn't work though. They do make a handful of testable claims. I wonder if those are grounds for legal action against false advertising?

Religions don't ruin your life, the people in them do. And yes, you can sue religious people.

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

Also it wouldn't be hard to sue Christianity under these logical constructs.
1. crusades
2. dark ages
3. plagiarism I.E Horus Mithra other deities share the same birthday and predate jesus
4. against basic humans rights or limited human rights
5. any time in history where the religion has done more wrong and evil than good i.e. slavery etc reefer to 1 and 2
6. the use of emotional and vocal abuse to get people to believe
that is the main 6 points of how it can be tried under court of law.

You can't sue an idea, but you can sue an institution: specific churches, members, etc. who have violated your rights.
