Wait until some of our resident creatards show up. Facts do not impress them.

Welcome Mark.

Things like all the infanticide, cannibalism and just insane amounts of contradiction and endless folly. People eating dung at Yehwrh's behest. The book of Leviticus is particularly entertaining.
I sure do miss the dialog and a chance to vent. Damn it was fun making them crawl in the debates.

I doubt I have the patience for it anymore. The continued rivers of blood flowing from all these ancient stone aged goat herders has me at my witts end!

I'd like to take a giant science book and just smash them like the ignorant vermin they are. I'm over it. Why can't they open their eyes?

'Science', as you put it, is not anti-theistic. Outside of a few very specific scientific disciplines, 'science' has very little to say about religion.

It's wise not to begin your atheistic journey with an unjustifiable bias, you seem to still be very heavily steeped in Christian idioms, it's best to leave your anti-theistic feelings to one side.

"The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinions" - Leonardo da Vinci

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

Welcome Landfish!

You got me wondering if there are any atheist meetings in NE Ohio. That might be quite fun to have discussions in person, with my actual voice and ears. This forum has been my only vent.

I've been meaning to join the Archeological Society of Ohio (ASO) for a few years now, but if I don't have time for the meetings, how the hell am I gonna have time for amateur digs Big Grin

Still, some sort of meeting type thing would be a good starting point to get me back out in society; meeting flesh and blood, baby-eating atheists would be a plus.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

The Plank Barrier at 10(-43) second of the inflation/big bang is where I read that quantum models started to be inadequate for further understanding. This js from reading stuff 20 years ago. Has anything changed for modern models of the big bang ?

I need some new books...

Heh, a side remark in the intro thread and me typing on the phone may not be the optimal conditions to have that discussion, but anyways... I'd say in inflationary scenarios one does not run into the classic singularity when turning back time, because inflation happens before one reaches that point. The notion of events before inflation are very fuzzily defined and dependent on the specific scenario. The planck scale problem sometimes still appears in a sense because many of the simplest inflation models require field values beyond the planck scale to obtain sufficient inflation (large field models) and that is perceived as problematic. There seem ways out of that, but one also needs to wait whether the recent BICEP measurements are truly falsified to have a clearer picture...
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
