Welcome to the forum. If you have a moment I would like to talk to you about Jesus Christ.

'Science', as you put it, is not anti-theistic. Outside of a few very specific scientific disciplines, 'science' has very little to say about religion. It's wise not to begin your atheistic journey with an unjustifiable bias, you seem to still be very heavily steeped in Christian idioms, it's best to leave your anti-theistic feelings to one side. MM

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

Welcome Landfish!
You got me wondering if there are any atheist meetings in NE Ohio. That might be quite fun to have discussions in person, with my actual voice and ears. This forum has been my only vent. I've been meaning to join the Archeological Society of Ohio (ASO) for a few years now, but if I don't have time for the meetings, how the hell am I gonna have time for amateur digs Still, some sort of meeting type thing would be a good starting point to get me back out in society; meeting flesh and blood, baby-eating atheists would be a plus.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay." For context, this is the previous verse: "Hi Jesus" -robvalue RE: Hello all, greetings from an order atheist

Heh, a side remark in the intro thread and me typing on the phone may not be the optimal conditions to have that discussion, but anyways... I'd say in inflationary scenarios one does not run into the classic singularity when turning back time, because inflation happens before one reaches that point. The notion of events before inflation are very fuzzily defined and dependent on the specific scenario. The planck scale problem sometimes still appears in a sense because many of the simplest inflation models require field values beyond the planck scale to obtain sufficient inflation (large field models) and that is perceived as problematic. There seem ways out of that, but one also needs to wait whether the recent BICEP measurements are truly falsified to have a clearer picture...
