Which theocracies were you thinking of? I've never considered it/ such a thing seems like an abomination/ the ones that come to mind certainly were.

Christians/ Christ like actions were instrumental in dismantling slavery. Biblical accounts promote humanitarian ethics over the current practices.

Capital punishment? Such a thing is barbaric and the produce of the irreligious. Laws rooted in Christian theology are in danger of being revoked because secular morals cannot justify them. In secular law, retaliation is the only justice.

Business should be fair and serve the community and ecology. The god of capitalism needs slaying.

Women should be treated fully respectfully as women, not as men. The complete fulfillment potential of both sexes should be fully supported.

There should be complete freedom of religion and irreligion. Anything less is undesirable.

I once worked with a guy. A DB Admin.

He once stated that the only successful government possible would be a theocracy. Of course, it would have to be a theocracy that fit his religious beliefs exactly.

The slavery threads made me curious about how the religious guests on this forum feel about Christian theocracy. I have a lot of questions. Atheists can answer of course but I would really like to hear from some of the religious people who visit this site

If you are a Christian, do you think that a theocracy that used your bible to create its laws would be a good place to live?

First answer: no.
Every theocracy, eventually fails, due to the corruptiblity of man. Even at the height of theocracy under David and even under the wisest man Solomon still failed because those in power, always succumb to sin. When these men fall, everyone around them typically falls as well, because the worship lines between God and goverment are often blurred.

A theocracy would be a repressive and dangerous place to live no matter which religion controlled the laws but I am interested in whether some religious people that visit here think. If you are religious, do you think a theocracy would work if your religion was in charge?
