Wait, you mean light doesn't penetrate water perfectly? That it gets diffused as you get deeper until finally there is not enough available for useful vision? Who knew?!
Next you're gonna tell me that Muslims discovered that fire was actually hot. What's this world coming to?
Another thing.
It really grinds my gears when I hear muslims say that another one of the beautiful things of the Quran is that it contains scientific knowledge, just like this bit here about "salty water and fresh water not mixing" (and even then, YMMV).
The Quran may very well contain bits of knowledge of the natural world here and there. But this does not mean they are scientific (nor that they are divinely inspired). The reason these bits of knowledge are not pieces of scientific knowledge is in the way they are proposed: namely, as God's revelation, and not as the result of repeated observations and tests, with quantifiable (and falsifiable) results.
It's as if someone was saying that the Bible contains scientific knowledge because it says that the sky is blue and, in reality the sky really is blue. Merely stating that something is in a certain way, even if what is said is true, does not make science.
Not like I expect a book written in the seventh century to follow a scientific mindset, of course. Just a late night rant.

..[Noble Quran 24:40]
This verse mentions the darkness found in deep seas and oceans, where if a man stretches out his hand, he cannot see it. The darkness in deep seas and oceans is found around a depth of 200 meters and below. At this depth, there is almost no light. Below a depth of 1,000 meters there is no light at all[Oceans Elder and Pernetta p.27].
Human beings are not able to dive more than forty meters without the aid of submarines or special equipment. Human beings cannot survive unaided in the deep dark part of the oceans, such as at a depth of 200 meters.
Scientists have recently discovered this darkness by means of special equipment and submarines that have enabled them to dive into the depths of the oceans.
We can also understand from the following sentences in the previous verse, "..in a deep sea. It is covered by waves, above which are waves, above which are clouds,..." that the deep waters of seas and oceans are covered by waves, and above these waves are other waves.
It is clear that the second set of waves are the surface waves that we see, because the verse mentions that above the second waves there are clouds. But what about the first waves? Scientists have recently discovered that there are internal waves which "occur on density interfaces between layers of different densities."[Oceanography, Gross, p. 205].
The internal waves cover the deep waters of seas and oceans because the deep waters have a higher density than the waters above them. Internal waves act like surface waves. They can also break just like surface waves. Internal waves cannot be seen by the human eye, but they can be detected by studying temperature or salinity changes at a given location.
Water covers so much of the earth and even mixes with the land in rivers and streams. Yet is there something keeping it from mixing with itself? What is contained in this mystery of separation of waters?
The Quran on Seas and Rivers
You seem to be under the impression that when the Quran was written people were morons. This is not true.
If technical predictions are important to you then perhaps I can recommend the religion of Pythagoreanism. A religion based on the mathematical, astronomy and even a dash of music of Pythagoras. Which is so detailed, precise and accurate and not at all shrouded in colourful non-descriptive language that can be misinterpreted as any old garbage, (exactly like what you just posted) we still use his theorem today because it is still as effective and potent as when it was written, and no one needs to convince anyone because it is evident to anyone with a modicum of intellect how bloody amazingly great it is.
Only a modern-day moron would be taken in by vague fluff and nonsense... surely?

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

I defer as always to Matt D:
Even if the book did contain amazing scientific truths, we'd still have to test then out ourselves to find out if they are actually true. And even then, we don't know why they happened to get it right. Lucky guess? Some knowledge that has since been forgotten? Who knows. Putting God in their mouth is just an argument from ignorance.
Yikes, God in my mouth? I'm not ready for that :o
Also, he said that no matter how many correct things are in the book, that doesn't mean everything else is also correct. He gave an example something like this:
1- I'm a man
2- I'm on the air
3- Two plus two equals four
4- I am God

What concerns me is they have never stopped to think if they are worshiping an imposter. Arrogant is the man who thinks a deity can't trick him. Oh, he says he's the good guy does he? Well, the bad guy would never think of a scheme like that.
Would fit the supposed character of satan a lot better. Especially all the contradictions to confuse everyone.

There was a thread where I said That Satan was the good ruler of heaven, and Yahweh was the evil usurper who succeeded in throwing him out. It would make sense, given his actions, and how the countries with secular governments tend to do better when it comes to human rights than theocracies.
