I was stuck with the VEAP program, put the maximum $2700 into it and got the maximum $8100 out. It didn't go very far, but my timing in civilian life has not been so terrible.
Dark years indeed. I heard horror stories from those that were in during that era. Seems like things have gone south again from what I read. The AF seems to have the worst reputation among the services now regarding Christian influence. There was the occasional prayer before major events when I was in but nothing major. We atheists always found each other during those because we would be the ones who didn't have our heads bowed!

Welcome to the forums, AFTT47.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Actually it's: Alex Freeman, Time Traveler. It was a character I played in a Star Trek role-playing game once. No way you would have guessed that, lol.

I never minded crazies, as long as they aren't violent. Normal is boring. Part of my time in Florida was in Key West. Not too many normals there.
I've never been to KW, but it strikes me as more eccentric, and maybe liberal, somewhat. I dig eccentric. I live in San Diego, a military city, but I live in its LGBT area, which is said to be pretty famous in those circles. Ilike my local freaks and geeks.

Key West is definitely very eccentric and very liberal. Tell someone there that you enjoy laying naked in a vat of Elmer's glue and you'll get more interested questions than laughter. Just about anything goes there. Lots of artistic types, malcontents and people who simply don't fit in anywhere else.
There is a thing called the "End of the Road Effect." Find a place where the geography forces a long, single road in and out. Follow the road to the end and you'll find a cast of characters straight out of a Jimmy Buffett song. It's an interesting sociological phenomena because it occurs all around the world in all kinds of cultures. The interesting people congregate at the end of the road.
My daughter is in San Diego but she's disappointingly normal. I have no idea where she got that from because both her father and mother are well-left of center field. In foul territory, actually.
