Big Name NFL Athlete Asserts his Atheism

If atheism were true you’d have the same issue but to an even more severe degree since all decisions made on the field would be pre-determined by and according to the chemical processes within the brains of the players and coaches. Let’s all cheer for streams flowing, rocks falling, and ice melting! How boring!

I think there's quite some room for debate on whether self-conscious human thought is entirely deterministic, even though the rest of the universe (and many of the factors influencing any human thought) obviously is.

There is something a lot more comforting about the idea that it's not being controlled by a brutal fuckup of a god, as Christianity asserts, because then we're all victims of intentional malice, instead of practically unpredictable circumstance. What's the point of football if God intended for the Green Bay Packers to lose that game? What's the point of living if God knows precisely when he's going to kill you with cancer?

Poor atheists, being fed to the lions and sent to the gulag camps on a daily basis!

An NFL running back being an atheist has no bearing on the soundness of my conceptual scheme kind sir.

There’s no room for debate if materialism is true, the mind is simply the result of the physical brain that is bound by natural law. I cannot fault you for thinking otherwise; after all, the natural processes within your brain caused you to do so.

Well rationality is rooted in God’s nature, so some of your response is nonsensical. Everything we do ought to be intended to bring glory to God. When a football player displays a magnificent level of athleticism it certainly does just that.

Hell its about time people started thanking themselves and the others around them for their accomplishments instead of a god whose existence is pointing to not existing.

Exactly the universe is material our brain is who we are and when we die its all over.

Really... rationality and god do not belong in the same sentence.
Rationally a person with any rational thought can see there is no god so why say its rational to say there is one with no empirical evidence.
Atheism is a non-prophet organization join today.

Baseless assertion.

For someone who earlier was professing adherence to logic, you seem to have issues with its application.

Some of us do value truth though. I didn't say you were under obligation to.

I don't follow football, but it's always very nice to find an atheist in something you're interested in. Even if he's been out about it for a while, he probably made the day of some football fans who didn't know. Great

Oh, it undoubtedly is bound by natural laws, the extent of which we have only just begun to uncover. Human thought is one of those few remaining legitimate ambiguities.

All of this response is nonsensical, so I guess I'll live.

Whence the wadded panties then? Certainly someone so smug and complacent in his faith has better things to worry about, right?

Oh, maybe not, considering your verbiage here.
