Theists, What Would It Take For You To Lose Your Faith?

Prior to the events leading to a crisis of faith, theists cannot conceive of anything that would change their minds. This, I believe, is due to the extreme compartmentalization needed to cling to faith in the face of cognitive dissonance.

A couple of characteristics that seem likely to lead to a loss of faith are Intelligence, Curiosity, and a Love of Learning. Theists who possess these characteristics in abundance will have a harder time denying reality in the long run.

What are you talking about? Christ Himself tells us that God will test our Faiths, in the parable of the wise and foolish builders. Why? Because we ask Him for a greater understanding or earnestly want a closer relationship. So He sends the wind and rain to test what they believe. What is built on the truth of Christ will stand the test what is not will be washed away.

The problem? So many of you (those who's 'house' was washed away) truly believe that you were born into the one and only valid version of Christinaity, and when it was tested it failed (like all versions do to one degree or another) your pride assumed their was no God if your first attempt in finding Him failed.

That is why we are told to Ask SEEK and Knock. To Seek and Knock is to continue to build that house and have it tested over and over till you Find God. Why? Because this is the process that God put in place to weed out the proud and those who look to elevate themselves in the worship of God.

So short answer; why do people loose their faith? Pride. 'christians' assume that their efforts no matter how wrong, And unbiblical it will be immediately met and supported by God. When it is met with the wind and rain Christ promised the foolish men's houses fail, and they jump the fence to atheism.

Do some reading about confirmation bias.

Maybe you should do some reading on confirmation bias. The key to it is cradled in the turning a blind eye to the truth for what one wants to be true.

I have repeatedly said I have direct confirmation of the truth from God. The irony here is your confirmation bias will not allow you to accept this truth. Because what you believe demands you ignore anything God is willing to offer us.

No there is no truth in Christianity i mean take a good hard look at what your belief is. I deny the trinity because its not a Christian thing in the first place. Neither is angels and demons those where added on. Jesus never really truly a christian thing it was and forever will be based on Buddha and other figures like him. The devil based on the god Prometheus and he wanted humanity be smart and think for themselves. The downside to Christianity you cannot think for yourself you think through the book of complete lies and forgeries. Only such a minor percentage is actually even original.

Pagan foreshadowing of the truth does not undermine its full revelation in Christ, our Lord.

Christ your "lord" is just a copy Buddha and Christianity has some roots with Buddhism except with the part of you know meditating. Except with Buddha he existed and he was a person and very enlightened person at that.

We don't yet have the answer, so god did it. How intellectually vacuous.

I really hate that just because science doesn't have the answers yet it doesn't mean you throw god over it its a tiring argument. We are people i mean once we find other sentient life out there in the universe there goes god out the window and more than likely won't be coming back.

Actually, prayer is a form meditation. It is all memorized and chanted out in unison and the 'one mind' kicks in.

My envisionment would be a god that could create the universe would be so powerful that when it was finished, the result would be, "Eh, let us try something else.".
