I get the impression that "new and bold leadership" means "not thinking too much when making decisions." This is all hilarious when you consider that the GOP's main goal for the last six years has been gridlock no matter what. My theory is that It's an extension of the anti-intellectual streak which is rampant in murica. It started with the gop trying to make itself accessible, "look, we're dumb and religious just like you." then a political generation or two later they started to believe their own rhetoric and electing people who were GENUINELY dumb and religious. The new generation, the palins, the cruz's etc are the unintended consequences of a move to try to dumb down politics to win votes from unsophisticated people with unsophisticated ideologies. They've discovered that voters value relatability more than talent.
