Wow, that's messed up. I would post a clip of the hypnotherapist in Office Space saying "That's messed up" but I don't really care that much.
Anyway, if in doubt about what you should do, study people who have what you want and try to imitate them.

How very helpful. If you don't really care that much, why are you bothering?

Creed, I really don't know what to say besides I'm really sorry you feel that way. I don't have any advice, but I think you're an awesome guy and if you need to vent, we're always here for you. If there's something I can do to help, let me know. Other than that, hang in there. Things will work out. They have to.

Hang in there Creed. I know what you are going through, and it's fucking shit. But be strong. We'll be here for you.

I don't care enough to look up a video for a laugh. I do care enough to type a few sentences. I'm generally a fan of cognitive and behavioral approaches to such problems.

I appreciate it. I wish there was something anyone could do to help, but if I knew what it was, I imagine I'd probably be in much better shape than I am these days.
I dunno what could help. I wish I did, if there is such a thing. But, nothing like this is ever solved easily, if it can be at all.
I hate feeling like this. Like a fucking whining wet blanket. I've dealt with and survived and endured through so much, it feels...I don't know...uncharacteristic of me, or antithetical to what I've managed to get through to act like this and feel like this. But then, maybe that's just it; maybe the meat grinder of life has just left me a tattered, mutilated mess. I guess I shouldn't be surprised I'm not a polished work of high-quality goods. I just wish I was functional at the very least.

I know. This forum has never failed to be populated by people who are kind enough to at least hear me out and deal with my break-downs and to offer their support. Even if it doesn't solve anything, being able to just let the floodgates open and let it all out to an audience that sympathizes eases the pressure for a little while. I can't truthfully say that I can rely on other sources of support; there really aren't any left these days for me. :/

I've been doing that for a long time. It's forced, phony, and little more than a mask cobbled together from the perceptions I've obtained through observation. It's only useful as an outward display, something to use to hide the problems from the rest of the world...and I use it to that effect to the absolute fullest, I assure you.

I probably can't help.
But I'd like to.
Therapy helps some folks. Your data on its success could be wrong or misinterpreted.
I don't know and can't live your experience so no, I don't know what you're going through.
But FWIW-
You aren't the only one to think about this.
Better minds than mine have gotten stuck on the question, "Why bother?"
I don't know where the reference is wait a minute, Google is my friend:
Camus concluded that human existence was absolutely absurd and going on was pointless. But he had an answer:
https://web.archive.org/web/200201071301...camus.html
Quote:In the face of this negation of basic demands of the human spirit, the stance to assume, according to Camus, is one of defiance and revolt,
Your mileage may vary, but I have confidence that you can be the badass your image suggests.
Give one or more fingers to the universe and tell it to get fucked (pardon my Klatchian), you're coming back.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?

Uh, after going through the whole thread and seeing those pictures of you, I have to say no, you're not doing that.
This isn't rocket surgery. Do the following and you'll feel better about yourself:
1. Get a haircut. From a barber shop, not a salon or a gay friend.
2. Shave.
3. Dress like a man.
4. Go to the gym.
5. Eat mostly meat, fish, eggs, and vegetables.
6. Stop whining like a girl.

Ah, alpha male, managing to combine sexism, breathtaking condescension, and basic insults as per the usual.

It's called tough love. Look at the guy and read his shit. He needs a kick in the ass and some common sense, not consolation.
